Job Description

Position Summary The Young Adult (YA) Ministry Resident helps foster meaningful connection, community, and spiritual growth among young adults at Centerpoint Church (ages 18-28). This is a relational and developmental ministry role focused on helping young adults feel welcomed, connected, and encouraged in their faith as they engage in the life of Centerpoint Church. This position is structured as a one-year ministry residency focused on leadership development, relational ministry experience, and spiritual formation within the life of Centerpoint Church. At the conclusion of the residency year, both the resident and Centerpoint Church may mutually discern whether to extend the residency for an additional year. Key Responsibilities 1. Relational Connection & Sunday Engagement Maintain a consistent presence on Sundays as a primary ministry environment. Build relationships with young adults before and after services. Welcome newcomers and help young adults feel connected and known. Help identify young adults who may be looking for friendship, community, mentorship, or next steps at Centerpoint. 2. Community Building Help facilitate opportunities for young adults to gather, build friendships, and grow spiritually together. Support and help develop one primary ongoing young adult connection point, such as the current Young Adult Bible Study or another relational gathering. Encourage young adults toward meaningful participation in the life of Centerpoint Church and healthy community. 3. Mentorship & Discipleship Build intentional mentoring and discipleship relationships with young adults as opportunities arise. Encourage young adults in practicing their faith and taking intentional next steps in following Jesus. Help foster a culture of relational encouragement, mentorship, and spiritual growth among young adults. 4. Collaboration & Communication Meet regularly with the Spiritual Formation Pastor for support, planning, and collaboration. Communicate consistently and professionally with young adults, volunteers, and church leadership. Work alongside church leadership to support the mission and values of Centerpoint Church. Desired Outcomes Success in this role looks like: Young adults feel seen, welcomed, and valued at Centerpoint Church. Young adults are meaningfully connected in relationships and community. Young adults increasingly see Centerpoint as their church home and spiritual family. Young adults are encouraged and equipped to practice their faith and follow Jesus intentionally. Healthy and sustainable community develops through relationships, consistency, and shared ownership rather than large-scale programming. Qualifications & Expectations A consistent and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Alignment with the mission, values, and vision of Centerpoint Church. Strong relational and interpersonal skills. Dependable, proactive, teachable, and emotionally mature. Ability to connect naturally with young adults in a welcoming and authentic way. Ability to take initiative while also working collaboratively with church leadership. Previous ministry, mentoring, leadership, or small group experience is helpful but not required.
Schedule & Compensation Part-Time:
Approximately 10 hours per week
Compensation:
$15/hour Sundays are considered a primary ministry/work day. Additional hours may include relational meetings, group gatherings, planning, and communication throughout the week. Supervision & Coaching The Young Adult Ministry Resident reports to the Spiritual Formation Pastor, who will provide oversight, guidance, collaboration, and support related to the practical ministry responsibilities and leadership aspects of the role. In addition, the resident will also have a designated coach who will provide encouragement, support, and intentional care for the resident's personal, spiritual, and overall well-being throughout the residency experience. Typical Weekly Rhythm Sunday Engagement (2 ½ to 3 Hours) Be present before and after Sunday services Connect relationally with young adults Welcome newcomers and help facilitate connection Follow up on conversations and introduce young adults to others within the church community Young Adult Community Gathering (2-3 Hours) Help facilitate one primary ongoing young adult connection point, such as Young Adult Bible Study, Small Group, Social Gathering, or the like. This role is designed around cultivating consistent relational environments rather than managing multiple high-intensity programs or events. Relational Meetings (2-3 Hours) Coffee meetings Mentoring conversations Relational check-ins and follow-up Planning & Communication (1-2 Hours) Text and email communication Planning and organization Staff meetings/check-ins Coordinating next steps and follow-up
