Job Description
IMAGE CHURCH
|CYPRESS, TX
Youth Minister Middle & High School | Part-Time | On-Site We're looking for someone to help our middle and high schoolers fall in love with Jesus, find their people, and discover who God made them to be. Image Church is a growing, multi-generational church in Cypress, TX. Our student ministry is established, with active students who show up, bring friends, and want more. We're looking for a Youth Minister who will walk with them — teach them the Word, build real relationships, develop leaders among them, and help shape a generation. This isn't a role for someone who just wants to lead a service on Sunday. We're looking for a shepherd — someone present, prayerful, and prepared to invest in students and the adults who serve alongside them. At a Glance Role Youth Minister (Middle & High School) Hours 20-25 hours per week Schedule Sundays required. Midweek life group required. Some evenings and event weekends. Classification Part-time, non-exempt, ministerial Reports to Lead Pastor and Executive Director, with mentorship and support from the Children's Ministry Director Location Image Church — 20402 Chappell Knoll Dr, Cypress, TX 77433 Why This Role Matters Students today are navigating real questions about identity, purpose, anxiety, relationships, and faith — often without anyone meaningfully walking beside them. We believe the local church is uniquely positioned to change that. The person in this seat gets to be one of the most consistent voices in a student's life during some of their most formative years. What You'll Do Teach and Disciple Lead weekly youth services and a midweek life group for middle and high schoolers. Prepare and deliver biblically sound, age-appropriate teaching that meets students where they are. Create environments where students grow spiritually, build real friendships, and want to keep showing up. Identify and mentor student leaders who can shape the culture of the ministry from the inside out. Build Relationships Be present — in services, in life group, at school events, sports, and community moments when scheduling allows. Walk with students through real life. Pray for them, listen to them, and point them to Jesus. Keep parents and guardians informed and engaged. They're your partners, not your audience. Provide pastoral care alongside our broader leadership team. Develop a Team Recruit, train, and equip adult volunteers and student leaders. Hold a monthly meeting with volunteers and parents to align on vision, calendar, and care. Partner with the Children's Ministry Director on the 5th-to-6th grade transition so students and families experience a smooth handoff into student ministry — not a cliff. Make sure every volunteer understands our policies, child protection standards, and ratios — and that we hold the line on them every time. Run the Ministry Well Plan and execute youth events, retreats, and an annual summer camp with excellence. Manage the youth calendar, communications, and Planning Center workflows. Steward the youth ministry budget and submit clean, timely requests. Show up to staff meetings, planning meetings, and leadership check-ins ready to contribute. What Year One Could Look Like We want this role to feel like a real ministry, not a list of tasks. Some of what we'd love to see in your first year: Students who can name two or three adults at Image Church who genuinely know them. A core team of trained, dependable adult volunteers who feel equipped and appreciated. Student leaders being raised up — not just attending, but owning pieces of the ministry. Parents who feel informed, included, and confident in what their student is being taught. A summer camp experience students talk about long after they get home. A healthy partnership with the Children's Ministry Director — and students and families who experience the move into student ministry as a smooth, intentional next step. How We Work Together This role sits inside our NextGen pipeline, under the leadership of our Lead Pastor and Executive Director. You'll partner with her closely on day-to-day vision, calendar, and the discipleship arc from kids ministry into student ministry. Senior alignment, support, and major-decision sign-off come from the Lead Pastor and Executive Director. You'll also collaborate with other ministry leaders to support the unified mission of Image Church. We want a Youth Minister who brings ideas to the table, owns their lane, and stays aligned with where the church is going. We'll give you the support, infrastructure, and clarity you need to lead well. Who You Are Experience Minimum of 2 years in youth or student ministry (paid or volunteer). Equivalent ministry training and experience considered. Skills Exceptional with teenagers — present, warm, credible, and not trying too hard. Strong communicator and teacher. Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented. Comfortable with church management systems (Planning Center) and basic tech. Collaborative — you take direction well and bring your best to a team. Spiritually A growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Alignment with Image Church's mission, vision, Statement of Faith, and leadership culture. Willing to sign and uphold the Staff Lifestyle Agreement. Active in the life of Image Church — attending, serving, and giving. Models Christ-centered character, humility, integrity, and spiritual maturity. Physical Requirements Able to stand, walk, and move for extended periods during services and events. Able to lift up to 25 pounds, with or without assistance. Able to actively engage in dynamic youth ministry environments. How to Apply Submit your application at the link below. We'll ask for your resume and a short note (a few sentences is fine) about why this role caught your attention. If you've taught students before, feel free to include a link to a message or a brief sample of how you teach.https:
