We have grown significantly in the last 4 years both in committed attendance (60%) and in giving (43%). We are within 10 miles of 6 different high schools and a number of jr. high schools. We are only 8 miles from the University of South Carolina campus, so opportunities abound for connecting with our thriving young adults community both at Grace Chapel and in the area. We are looking for a dynamic, high-energy leader to step into the role of Youth Pastor / Director. If you love engaging, investing in and inspiring students, building volunteer teams, and creating irresistible environments for middle and high schoolers, this might be the perfect role for you! This is a critical area of ministry that has been led by highly dedicated lay leaders in previous seasons, but it is time for a more concentrated effort and investment and maybe you are the one who can lead us in that area into this new season.

We have had significant growth, over 40 baptisms, updates and improvements to our campus ongoing while remaining debt free as a Church. We are just minutes from downtown Columbia SC., the capital of the state and home to the University of South Carolina. We also have multiple private colleges including multiple seminary opportunities for education advancement. The cost of living in the greater Columbia area is quite moderate compared to other areas of the country. We enjoy access in less than a 2 hours drive to both ocean beaches and the West Carolina/blue ridge mountains. We currently have a regular attending body in the 130-180 range with all age groups well balanced. With a new lead pastor having come in 2022 and lay leadership over youth previously, you are able to come in and develop a dynamic student ministry vision and system from the ground up. The current plan is for this role to start as a 3/4 time position, affording the individual the time to utilize side earning capacity as the student ministry grows. There will be a staff huddle up on campus one day a week for collaboration and planning and then both lead pastor, student pastor and communications director are able to utilize their home office/space to fulfill their work commitments.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Engaging and teaching the youth of Grace Chapel both on the Church campus and in their school environments, modeling how to outreach to their friends.
• Build a ministry that students love-one that helps them grow in faith, connect in community, and bring their friends.
• Lead, recruit, and develop a team of volunteers to create an engaging, impactful student ministry.
• Plan and execute a 6-12 month strategy for student ministry, working in step with the broader church calendar.
• Stay on the cutting edge of youth ministry strategies to create environments that are engaging, relevant, and transformational.
• Partner with parents to support them in guiding their kids toward a lifelong relationship with Jesus.
• Provide as needed support to a highly dedicated Children's Team (3 lay leaders). Anticipating this to be no more than 10 hours of your time during the work week in certain seasons. Will usually be much less.

Job Qualifications:

Visionary leader who thrives on building and equipping volunteer teams. A relational, high-energy personality who connects easily with students and parents alike. A great communicator, In addition to teaching students students, increasing opportunities will be given to the Youth Pastor/Director to preach in the main service and other critical settings. Someone who embraces mentorship by a lead pastor who believes in them and wants to see their full potential realized. A strategic planner who can think ahead and structure ministry for maximum impact. Someone who understands that evangelism and discipleship are not separate goals, but a continuity of the same goal, making disciples and to shape a student ministry within that framework. A committed follower of Jesus, growing in faith and passionate about leading others. Candidate will either have some bible college/seminary education or plans to obtain that training.
