Job Description

Associate Pastor of Student Ministry Description Status•Full-time, Salaried Hours•40 Hours per week Lines of Authority•
Senior Pastor, Personnel Committee, Church Position Summary:
The Associate Pastor of Student Ministry is a vital leadership role within the church. The man in this position should have a clear, God-centered calling to ministry. He should have a vibrant, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and actively seek His guidance in all decisions and leadership responsibilities. He should demonstrate the qualities of a pastor as described in Acts 20:28-32, 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-5. The Associate Pastor will be responsible for teaching students and assisting the Senior Pastor with ministerial and support needs as they arise. The Associate Pastor, like the Senior Pastor, is not responsible for doing all the work of ministry in the church, but for ensuring that it is done properly. The Associate Pastor may be assigned specific tasks to perform or areas of ministry to administer, as directed.
Key Responsibilities:
The Associate Pastor will oversee ministry leaders to ensure they receive the appropriate teaching, training, and support so they are effective in their ministry positions.

In the absence of a Senior Pastor or Interim Pastor, he may be asked to oversee worship services and perform any other necessary ministerial duties within the church. He will help with ministry counseling needs from the church membership and respond to requests from the community. He will lead a regular LifeGroup for students or adults with the purpose of helping them grow their relationship with Christ. He will build meaningful relationships with students and parents within local schools, sports teams, and community spaces.

He will visit and/or call students and their families during times of difficulty. He will represent the Senior Pastor at committee and ministry team meetings as requested.

He will cooperate with all staff to promote the entire ministry of the church.

He will maintain proper personal priorities at home and with his family as the spiritual leader of his household.

He will develop and practice personal evangelism within and outside the church.

He will give graciously to the church through tithes and offerings. He will comply with the Mt. Vernon ministry policies and procedures as addressed by church leadership.

He will perform any other duties as necessary or assigned by the Senior Pastor.
