SUMMARY UD
is currently seeking a campus minister who will provide both spiritual and academic formation in the Catholic faith through faith formation programming and service opportunities, as well as interpersonal accompaniment of the University of Dallas student body throughout the academic year.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Accompaniment / Spiritual Direction Provide spiritual advice to current students, faculty, and staff (ongoing and as needed). Minister to, care for, walk with, listen to, and pray with students in need. Coordinate care with the counseling department, CARE team, OSA and other departments as needed. Ministry Support In collaboration with other campus ministers: Create curriculum for weekly discussion groups/faith formation communities for women with assistance from the Director of Campus Ministry.
Male campus minister:
form student men as peer leaders within community of UD Men's Society or Knights of Columbus.
Female campus minister:
form student women as peer leaders within community of Blessed is She. Give frequent talks throughout the year; advertise and execute all events for the ministry. Manage all administrative work that this duty entails. Retreats In collaboration with other campus ministers: Design retreat programs to meet the established objectives of the Genesis, Winter, and Exodus retreats. Vet, select and empower student leaders to direct and staff peer-led Campus Ministry retreats. Give talks as required. Coordinate and provide oversight of travel. Manage related administrative duties. Liturgical and Sacramental Support If assigned: Provide liturgical support for Sunday and daily Masses as well as weddings, funerals and special events, as assigned. Planning, coordination, and communication of liturgies to necessary parties; preparing Mass intention list for celebrant and the prayers of the faithful. Recruiting, training, and scheduling students to assist as lectors, altar servers, sacristans, and extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion; Filling these roles in the absence of students. Coordinating monthly schedule of priests (and deacons) to cover all Masses and confessions.
Outreach/Mission Support If assigned:
Coordinate monthly community service outings with area non-profits, churches, care centers, etc. Select Alternative Spring Break (ASB) team through application and interview process; oversee and implement fundraising activities; lead faith formation and development sessions for ASB team prior to mission trip; serve as lead minister on mission trip; manage all administrative work that this duty entails. Advertise events; coordinate student registration for events; transport and participate at event; manage all administrative work that this duty entails.
Student Club Advisor/Liaison If assigned:
Oversee campus clubs activities (those that fall under Campus Ministry); attend certain club events; act as chaperone for at least one weekend trip per year for pro-life club; provide operational/spiritual guidance.
Administrative Support If assigned:
Provide administrative support to the Chaplain and Director of Campus Ministry. Update website as requested. Other duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Office of Campus Ministry and the Church of the Incarnation.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors degree. An understanding of and commitment to the values and objectives of Catholic liberal education and the ability to effectively communicate with academically talented college students. Understanding of Catholic Social Teaching and the ability to teach it to others. Strong ability to listen and advise young adults in difficult situations (spiritual accompaniment, human formation). Strong team building and leadership development skills. High level of organizational skills and interpersonal skills. Proven ability in planning and implementing programs, equipping volunteer staff, and working with community organizations to the broader community. Proficiency in Google Workspace applications (Google Docs, Sheets, Slides Drive and Forms) and other online software and apps (Calendly, Canva, Instagram/Facebook) that could be used for advertisement purposes. Ability to work in both on a team and independently.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Degree in theology, religious studies, or pastoral ministry. One to two years of experience in a college campus ministry, parish young adult, or comparable setting preferred.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This job requires the ability to work irregular work hours, including evenings, weekends, and school holidays and often on short notice. Flexible schedule will be worked out with the Director of Campus Ministry to allow for alternate time off.
