Pastor

Hillcrest Baptist Church in Kemp, Texas, is seeking a Spirit-led, bi-vocational pastor to serve as the spiritual leader of our congregation. The pastor will serve as the primary spiritual leader and teacher. The pastor will provide biblical preaching, pastoral care, leadership development, and community outreach. He will lead in accordance with Scripture and the Baptist Faith & Message, supporting the mission and values of a Southern Baptist church.

Key Responsibilities Preaching & Teaching:

Prepare and deliver biblically sound, Christ-centered sermons for Sunday worship services. Oversee or lead Wednesday evening Bible study (as schedule permits). Ensure teaching aligns with the Baptist Faith & Message and Southern Baptist doctrine.

Shepherding & Pastoral Care:

Provide spiritual counseling and shepherding to members and attendees. Perform visitation (hospital, home, etc.), officiate weddings, funerals, baptisms, and the Lord's Supper as available. Pray for the congregation and lead in times of crisis or need.

Leadership & Administration:

Serve as the spiritual leader and moderator of church business meetings. Help cast vision, make disciples, and lead in decision-making while working collaboratively with Elders and church leadership. Support and encourage ministry teams and volunteers. Oversee or support Bible studies, small groups, youth/children's ministries, and volunteer training to build up the body of Christ (Eph. 4:11-12).

Evangelism & Outreach:

Lead the church in evangelistic outreach in the Kemp community and surrounding communities. Lead and encourage member involvement in local missions, serving the community and making disciples. Personal & spiritual Qualifications Meet biblical qualifications for a pastor/elder as described in (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9). Demonstrate a clear testimony of salvation, calling to ministry, demonstrate a life lived for our Lord Jesus Christ. Be in agreement with the Baptist Faith & Message. Have & exhibit strong moral character, integrity, family leadership and the strength to shepherd a congregation to Jesus.

Experience/Education:

Be ordained in a southern Baptist or like minded church. Proven pastoral or ministry experience preferred. We believe that biblical leadership is defined primarily by character, spiritual maturity, and the calling of the Holy Spirit. While we value formal theological education as helpful tool for ministry, we do not view a seminary degree as a prerequisite for pastoral leadership. Our priority is identifying leaders who posses a shepherd's heart, integrity, and the ability to accurately handle the Word of God, and shepherd people the Christ, clearly outlined in scripture. We believe God prepares his leaders through life experience, diligent study of His word, and the guidance of the Holy spirit.

Personal:

Called by God to pastoral ministry; married (preferred); able to relocate or commute to Kemp, TX area; self-motivated for part-time role demands.

Background check and references required; agreement to church constitution/bylaws.

Compensation and Expectations Status:

Bi-Vocational (part-time pastoral role).

Compensation:

To be determined by church budget and experience.
