Associate Pastor of Student Ministry and Discipleship Lake Shore Baptist Church Lake Dallas, TexasFull-Time | 40 Hours Per Week Position Summary The Associate Pastor of Student Ministry and Discipleship serves as a key member of the pastoral staff at Lake Shore Baptist Church and is responsible for leading a comprehensive discipleship strategy for students (Grades 6-12) while helping implement the church-wide vision of the making disciples and mobilizing disciples. This pastor will provide spiritual leadership, discipleship, evangelism, leadership development, volunteer recruitment, family ministry support, and community outreach. The Associate Pastor will work alongside the Senior Pastor and church leadership to ensure that every student is being encouraged to Love God, Love Others, and actively engage in making disciples and mobilizing disciples. This position requires a passionate follower of Jesus who loves students, values biblical discipleship, embraces family ministry, and is committed to helping the next generation become lifelong followers of Christ. The Associate Pastor of Student Ministry and Discipleship will play a vital role in helping students and families embrace and live out this vision. Primary Responsibilities 1. Student Ministry Leadership Provide overall vision, leadership, and direction for all student ministry programming.
Responsibilities include:
Develop and oversee a comprehensive discipleship strategy for grades 6-12. Plan and lead weekly student worship services. Organize student small groups and discipleship groups. Create opportunities for students to engage Scripture regularly. Equip students to share their faith. Foster spiritual growth through worship, Bible study, prayer, and service. Develop annual ministry goals and evaluation processes. Build a healthy student ministry culture centered on relationships and discipleship. Provide pastoral care for students and their families. 2. Family Ministry Partnership Work alongside parents as the primary disciplers of their children.
Responsibilities include:
Encourage and equip parents for spiritual leadership in the home. Provide regular communication with parents. Offer parenting resources and discipleship tools. Organize parent meetings and family discipleship events. Assist families during times of crisis and spiritual need. Develop milestone celebrations and discipleship pathways. 3. Leadership Development Recruit, train, and develop volunteers and future ministry leaders.
Responsibilities include:
Build and oversee a healthy volunteer team. Recruit and train adult leaders. Develop student leadership teams. Provide ongoing coaching and encouragement. Identify students called to ministry and missions. Create leadership development opportunities. 4. Evangelism and Outreach Lead students toward a lifestyle of Gospel engagement.
Responsibilities include:
Develop outreach strategies for local schools and communities. Organize evangelistic events. Equip students to share their testimonies. Coordinate community service projects. Foster relationships with local schools and educators. Lead initiatives that help students invite friends to church. 5. Mobilization and Missions Help students actively participate in God's mission.
Responsibilities include:
Coordinate local mission opportunities. Organize domestic mission trips. Develop future international mission opportunities. Encourage students to discover and use their spiritual gifts. Cultivate a heart for serving others. 6.
Discipleship Strategy Implementation Responsibilities include:
Implement the church's discipleship pathway. Create discipleship groups for students. Develop mentoring relationships. Ensure students understand and practice the 276 values. Measure discipleship effectiveness. Develop systems that move students toward spiritual maturity. 7. Teaching and Preaching Provide biblical teaching that is engaging, accurate, and Gospel-centered.
Responsibilities include:
Teach regularly in student worship services. Lead Bible studies and discipleship groups. Occasionally preach in corporate worship services. Assist in teaching church-wide classes when needed. Develop teaching plans that align with the church's vision. 8. Worship Leadership Support Assist in developing student worship environments.
Responsibilities include:
Work with worship leaders and student musicians. Develop student worship teams. Coordinate student participation in church worship services. Encourage artistic gifts for ministry purposes. 9. Church-Wide Ministry Involvement Serve as a pastoral leader within the broader church family.
Responsibilities include:
Attend staff meetings. Participate in church-wide events. Support overall church ministry initiatives. Assist with pastoral care responsibilities. Conduct hospital visits as assigned. Participate in weddings and funerals when appropriate. Help cultivate unity across generations. Meet biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership found in: 1 Timothy 3:1-7 Titus 1:5-9 Be committed to the authority of Scripture. Exhibit Christian character and integrity. Maintain a healthy personal devotional life. Demonstrate a servant-leadership mindset. Be supportive of the mission and vision of Lake Shore Baptist Church.
Ministry Qualifications Preferred:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Seminary training preferred. Experience leading student ministry. Experience recruiting and developing volunteers. Experience teaching and preaching. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to lead teams effectively.
