Senior Pastor

Calvary Baptist Church, Nacogdoches, Texas Calvary Baptist Church in Nacogdoches, Texas, is prayerfully seeking resumes for a full-time senior pastor who is currently serving or has recently served in a foundational evangelical church. We are looking for a man called by God, a shepherd with proven pastoral and ministry experience to lead our church and staff in spiritual growth and service. The ideal candidate is devoted to the continual study of Scripture and has a clear passion for evangelism. He should communicate effectively from the pulpit with a balance of teaching and exhortation that encourages salvation and obedience. He must be enthusiastic about taking his ministry outside the church and should be a willing participant in associational activities and appropriate community outreach events.

Desired Characteristics:

• Must meet the Biblical qualifications for an overseer as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-4.
• Dedicated to faithfully teaching Biblical truths regardless of changing cultural trends.
• Easily approachable and a living example of the fruits of the Spirit from Galatians 5:22-23 and encourages those fruits in our staff and membership.
• Ability to engage with all ages.
• Presents the message of scripture in a way that is easy to understand and inspires spiritual growth through deeper study.
• Guides the staff and church leaders with respect and helps them grow.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree
• Master's degree from a Southern Baptist Seminary or other seminary with a similar, well established evangelical reputation.

Theological Beliefs:

• Fully supports The Baptist Faith & Message of 2000.
• Believes in baptism by total immersion only after personal salvation.
• Affirms the inerrancy and authority of Scripture.
• Leads the church only on the strong foundations of Biblical authority.
• Missions oriented, embraces discipleship as commanded in Matthew 28:19-20, and supports the cooperative program.
