Job Description

Associate Pastor of Discipleship Job Description The Associate Pastor of Discipleship at WHCC will serve as a pastoral shepherd in developing and implementing a discipleship plan that reaches from birth to adulthood. This full-time staff position will be foundationally rooted in understanding Scripture, the centrality of the Gospel, and the ongoing sanctification of God's people. He will lead, develop, and implement a Family Discipleship Plan (FDP) which will shape the discipleship of the corporate church. Primary Responsibilities 1. Discipleship Plan a. Establish and carry out a discipleship plan that aligns with the church's mission, vision, and foundations. b. Provide discipleship pathways which promote spiritual growth for new believers, mature believers, and non-believers. c. Oversee the process of assimilation, which aids in connection with the life, community, and teaching of the church. 2. Teaching and Equipping a. Provide ongoing teaching through classes, midweek gatherings, and discipleship training. b. Provide theologically sound materials that aid families and individuals with Bible intake as they grow in sound doctrine. c. Shepherd in pastoral guidance for matters of faith and obedience, ensuring the church thinks Biblically and lives faithfully. 3. Small Groups and Communal Life a. Oversee the church's small groups, providing vision, leadership development, and ongoing accountability. b. Recruit, train, and support group leaders to lead small group gatherings. 4. Family Discipleship Plan a. Work with the children, students, and adult ministries to implement family discipleship plan. b. Equip parents and guardians to be primary disciplers in the home. c. Ensure curriculum and discipleship markers are reflections of a Gospel-centered mission. 5. Community Involvement a. Provide vision and opportunities for Gospel ministry outside the walls of the church. b. Train and equip congregants to be faithful Gospel witnesses in their everyday life. 6. Pastoral Responsibilities a. Provide pastoral care, counseling, and Scriptural guidance as needed. b. Preach in the Sunday gathering as assigned by the Lead Pastor. c. Assist in officiating weddings, funerals, baptisms, and other pastoral duties. Qualifications and Requirements 1. Spiritual and Personal Requirements a. A mature and growing relationship with Christ marked by humility, prayer, and Biblical integrity. b. Agrees with the church's theology, doctrine, mission, vision, and foundations. c. Exhibits a deep love for Scripture and a passion for seeing others come to understanding and obedience. d. An ability to work joyfully and collaboratively with other staff, leaders, and ministry teams. 2. Education and Experience a. A degree from an accredited university or seminary is preferred. b. Has church ministry experience of at least 5 years. c. Clearly demonstrates an ability to lead, build, and train ministry teams. 3. Skills and Competencies a. Strong ability to teach/preach with biblical clarity and accuracy. b. Thinks strategically and can implement vision practically. c. Has the skill in training leaders, recruiting, and equipping volunteers. d. Exhibits effective administration and organizational leadership Reporting and Overseeing 1. Reports to : Lead Pastor 2.
