The Assistant Director of Campus Ministry is a vital member of the formation team, cultivating an environment of spiritual encounter and Cura Personalis within the Bellarmine community. In partnership with the Director, this role helps lead a robust retreat program, supports the liturgical life of the school, and provides authentic pastoral care. More than coordinating programs, the Assistant Director serves as a visible witness to the Gospel, accompanying students with spiritual depth and a lived commitment to the Ignatian tradition. This role is allocated the equivalent of 2 sections within the Bellarmine master schedule to support Campus Ministry leadership, retreat programming, and student formation.Core Functions and Duties:
Retreat Leadership & Programming Primary Facilitation:
Serve as the lead coordinator for three to four retreats (for example, two Encounter retreats, and pilgrimage) providing both logistical oversight and spiritual direction.Collaborative Leadership:
Partner with the Director to lead key segments of the Freshman and Sophomore retreat series, assisting in the design and potential expansion of these programs.Mission-Driven Support:
Provide a supportive pastoral presence and logistical coordination for all other retreats (Magis, Silent, and additional Encounters).Liturgical Life & Prayer Sacramental Coordination:
Assist with the preparation for all-school Masses and weekly chapel liturgies, ensuring a reverent and orderly liturgical environment.Student Formation:
Assist in the recruitment, training and provision of spiritual mentorship for student liturgical ministers (Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, and student ministry leaders).Collaborative Worship:
Partner with the Director and Chaplains to ensure cohesive, prayerful, and formationally rich liturgical celebrations.Pastoral Ministry & Campus Presence Ministry of Presence:
Maintain a consistent and authentic pastoral presence by attending and participating in all Campus Ministry events.Student Engagement:
Identify and create opportunities for students to integrate spiritual practices into their school life.Team Collaboration:
Assist in the ongoing evaluation of ministry programs and collaborate with the Adult Ignatian Formation Team to support faculty and staff spirituality.Competencies/Qualifications:
Lived Faith:
Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with a visible commitment to the sacramental life of the Church and a personal prayer life rooted in the Ignatian tradition.Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in Theology, Ministry, or a related field (or equivalent demonstrated expertise in professional ministry).Ministerial Disposition:
Demonstrated capacity for spiritual accompaniment and a "vocation-first" approach to ministry.Ignatian Mastery:
Ability to effectively communicate and model Ignatian spiritual practices (e.g., Discernment of Spirits, the Examen) to an adolescent audience.Effective Communication:
Highly proficient in articulating the Catholic/Ignatian mission with clarity across all platforms. Must demonstrate the ability to manage departmental communications while effectively engaging students, parents, and faculty.Organizational Excellence:
Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, with the ability to manage complex logistics, and timely completion of tasks, while maintaining a prayerful demeanor.Flexibility:
