Worship + Associate Pastor

River City Church is a growing church family in Wausau, Wisconsin, passionate about helping people know Jesus and live as a Jesus-centered family on mission. We exist to love God, love our city, and make disciples of Jesus Christ. We are currently in a special season of growth. What began as a church plant in 2022 has grown to 300+ people, and we ve recently stepped into a building that God has provided debt-free. Along with that growth comes incredible opportunity and an enormous amount of responsibility. We are looking for a Worship & Associate Pastor who will help us build, shepherd, and strengthen the life of our church in this next season. About the Role This is not simply a worship leader position. We are looking for a pastor first, worship leader second. Someone who can cultivate a healthy worship culture while also helping carry pastoral leadership, develop teams, and reinforce the DNA of the church. We already have a strong team of musicians and worship leaders. What we need is someone who can shepherd that team, develop leaders, and help unify and strengthen our worship culture, while also contributing to the broader leadership of the church. This role will have flexibility based on the strengths of the individual, but at its core, it is about building people, not simply leading music. Key Areas of Responsibility Cultivate Worship Culture Lead and develop a healthy, spiritually vibrant worship ministry Shepherd worship leaders, musicians, and production volunteers Help create gatherings that prioritize presence over performance Develop Leaders and Teams Identify and raise up leaders within the church Build and strengthen volunteer teams Help create a culture of ownership and discipleship Carry the Culture of River City Reinforce the DNA and values of the church across ministries Help move the church toward whole-church thinking rather than siloed ministries Strengthen Sunday Gatherings Collaborate with staff to create cohesive, excellent gatherings Ensure volunteers are supported, prepared, and aligned Serve as a Pastoral Leader Preach regularly (approximately every 6-8 weeks, potentially more) Invest in the spiritual health of the church Help develop leaders and disciple people Who We're Looking For The ideal candidate is: A pastor first, not just a musician Humble, steady, and emotionally mature Passionate about building and developing people A strong communicator and capable teacher Musically gifted and able to lead worship confidently Energized by growing churches and building something over time Excited to partner in leadership rather than operate independently Our Current Reality We want to be honest about the season we re in. We are a growing church with strong momentum, but we are still building leadership structures, volunteer pipelines, systems and clarity as we grow Our current staff includes: Lead Pastor Full-time Director of Church Administration Part-time Kids Director Part-time Youth & Young Adults Pastor We are looking for someone who doesn t just want to step into something established, but who wants to help build and shape the future of the church.
