Bridgeport United Methodist Church is seeking a passionate, relational, and Christ-centered leader to serve as our Part-Time Director of Youth Ministries. This position offers an exciting opportunity to help middle and high school students grow as disciples of Jesus Christ through worship, fellowship, service, and spiritual formation. We are looking for someone who enjoys building relationships, mentoring young people, developing leaders, and helping youth connect their faith to everyday life. Position Overview The Director of Youth Ministries will provide leadership for the church's ministry with middle and high school students, helping create meaningful opportunities for spiritual growth, community, service, and participation in the life of the church. The Director is expected to participate regularly in the worship and congregational life of Bridgeport United Methodist Church. Because healthy youth ministry is rooted in the life of the whole church, the Director will help build connections between youth, their families, and the broader congregation through worship, discipleship, mission, and fellowship. This is a part-time salaried position with annual compensation of $15,000 and an expected commitment of approximately 10-12 hours per week. Scheduling is flexible and may vary seasonally based on ministry activities and special events. Primary Responsibilities Lead and coordinate weekly youth gatherings focused on discipleship, fellowship, spiritual growth, and community building. Build positive relationships with youth and their families through encouragement, communication, and personal connection. Recruit, support, and collaborate with adult volunteers who assist in youth ministry. Participate regularly in the worship life of the congregation and encourage and coordinate youth participation as readers, liturgists, acolytes, musicians, singers, and other worship leadership roles. Coordinate and support youth participation in mission opportunities, retreats, camps, and special events in partnership with church staff and volunteer leaders. Communicate regularly with youth and parents regarding ministry opportunities, events, and discipleship resources. Support youth involvement in Confirmation and other discipleship opportunities in partnership with the Senior Pastor and volunteer leaders. Maintain a visible and supportive presence in the lives of youth, including periodic attendance at extracurricular, athletic, artistic, and school events as schedule permits. Qualifications A growing Christian faith and commitment to the mission of Jesus Christ and the Church. A heart for working with middle and high school students. Strong relational, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively with church staff, volunteers, and families. Demonstrated leadership ability and personal initiative. Prior experience in youth ministry, education, coaching, mentoring, counseling, or related fields is helpful but not required.
