This position is loced in the Office of The Adjutant General, Joint Force Headquarters-Ste, (JFHQ-ST), Special Staff of the Adjutant General, Office of the Chaplain. This position works under the day to day supervision of the Joint Chief of Staff or the TAG. This position is responsible for the supervision of a full-time Chaplain Assistant. The mission of the Nional Guard Chaplain Service is to provide unsurpassed spiritual leadership and care to Nional Guard personnel and their families home and abroad. The primary purpose of this position is to manage the ste Nional Guard Chaplain Service (NGCS) religious program, and to ensure the free exercise of religion for Nional Guard personnel and their families. The employee coordines a program of religious ministries, including workshops, spiritual leadership and care, religious educion; and other activities for Nional Guard personnel and their families. The Chaplain Service ministry is performed cooperively, and executed in a pluralistic environment. This ministry, when directed by TAG, may be extended to active duty and reserve component military personnel and their families within the Ste.MAJOR DUTIES
(1)Program Management:
Provides full program management services for the Ste/Territory Chaplain in accordance with Nional Guard Chaplain Service program goals and objectives. This position represents the first level of independent and responsible professional performance of a religious ministry, but does not represent the degree of professional murity found the higher grade levels. (2)Training:
Training is the cornerstone of preparion for military operions. Employee reviews training stregies th address, a) the technical and tactical proficiencies of the ste Nional Chaplain Service personnel, b) quality of life programs for Nional Guard personnel and their families, c) needs of other Chaplain Service constituencies (civilian clergy, non-government organizions (NGO), etc.). (3)Readiness and Deployment:
Provides chaplain support serves for Nional Guard personnel and their families through the full spectrum of the deployment cycle (mobilizion, deployment, employment, redeployment, and reconstitution). Responds to the needs of Nional Guard personnel and family members through both programs and direct care. (4)Crisis Intervention:
Under the Supervision of the Chief of Staff , TAG, and Ste level Chaplain (on M-Day stus), coordines Chaplain Service support during events such as nural disasters (floods, hurricanes, tornados, snowstorms, tsunamis, etc.), man-made disasters (acts of terrorism and technological events, etc.), unit emergencies (suicide, line-of-duty dehs, and serious line-of-duty injuries), and during times of significant nional events (Olympics, nional conventions and inaugurions, etc.). (5) Direct Religious Support toPersonnel:
Provides and/or coordines religious support to Nional Guard personnel and their families as needed such as, but not limited to: a) Religious rites, sacraments and observances. Coordines as necessary with other Chaplain Service personnel and/or civilian clergy to ensure the free exercise of religion. b) Religious services (worship, special events, prayer breakfast, weddings, funerals, memorial services, etc.). c) Officiing ceremonies (prayers changes of command, retirements, troop departures, welcome home events, etc.). d) Pastoral counseling and referral (grief, spiritual formion, conflict resolution, life skills, etc.). e) Visition (workplace, hospital, units, etc.). f) Personnel management issues (conscientious objector, hardship discharges, workplace violence, etc.). g) Crisis responder (deh/casualty notificion, casualty affairs officer assistance, mass causality events, suicides, etc.). h) Provides informion on religious organizion, practices and customs, and NGO's. i) Provides spiritual leadership. 6) Performs other duties as assigned.
