Job Description

POSITION TITLE
Residential Counselor Part-Time Role (Approximately 16-24 hours/week)
SALARY LEVEL
$18.50- $19.24 per hour.
Additional pay:
$0.58/hour bilingual differential $1.00/hour overnight shift differential
JOB DEFINITION
Provide for the 24-hour operation of the shelter facility and program; respond to 24-hour crisis line calls and requests. Provide supportive services, and advocacy services to residential clients affected by intimate partner violence, sexual assault.
REPORTS TO
Shelter Manager
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
High school diploma required. Experience in household management desirable. Prior residential facility experience and knowledge of intimate partner violence is desirable. Ability to speak Spanish is preferred. Once employed, must complete a 80-hour training to become a certified Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Counselor.
FACILITY SECURITY
Maintain security of residential program facilities Enforce house rules and residential program policies
FACILITY MANAGEMENT
Housekeeping duties as assigned Maintain established housekeeping and yard maintenance procedures Maintain residential program facilities in a healthful, therapeutic manner Provide on-site residential program supervision
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
Assure the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the project Assist in implementation of residential programs as they develop Maintain established program procedures
SUPERVISORY
Provide assistance and appropriate supervision to volunteers
CLIENT ORIENTATION
Admit and process clients Participate in orientation of residents as requested
CASE MANAGEMENT
Maintain established meal preparation procedures where applicable Provide supportive services to the clients in the form of crisis intervention, active listening, education and employment support Provide information and referral services to clients in areas such as housing, legal assistance, welfare, jobs, childcare, etc. in support of case manager
STATISTICAL/CLERICAL
Record keeping and clerical duties as assigned
CRISIS INTERVENTION
Provide crisis intervention support to the agency's 24-hour hotline Be available to clients as needed during shift assignments OTHER Comply with General Agency Responsibilities At all times demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines At all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues, clients, volunteers, supervisor and administrators Other duties as assigned WRC is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods, climb stairs, bend, stoop, and kneel, and lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally. Employees must be able to communicate clearly verbally and in writing, and remain physically alert and responsive during crisis situations. The employee must be able to perform these essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
