The Residential Treatment Specialist (RTS) provides direct care and supervision to children and adolescents with behavioral and emotional disorders in a residential treatment setting. This role focuses on maintaining a safe and structured environment while supporting residents in developing appropriate social, emotional, and daily living skills. The RTS implements treatment plans, manages behavior, and models positive, professional conduct at all times.Key Responsibilities:
Resident Supervision & Safety Supervise and monitor residents' whereabouts and activities throughout assigned shifts Ensure a safe, structured, and supportive living environment Oversee daily routines, including meals, hygiene, and scheduled activities Monitor self-administration of medication and perform basic health checks as trained Behavior Management & Therapeutic Support Implement approved behavior management strategies and individualized treatment plans Reinforce positive behaviors and apply appropriate consequences consistently De-escalate crises and resolve conflicts between residents Assist residents in identifying and practicing appropriate behavioral alternatives Program Implementation Follow and implement daily schedules and structured programming Facilitate group sessions and recreational activities Develop and support dorm-based programs aligned with treatment goals Documentation & Communication Complete accurate and timely reports, logs, and documentation Communicate effectively with team members regarding resident progress and concerns Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all organizational policies and procedures Professional Development & Teamwork Participate in required trainings and maintain current knowledge of best practices Demonstrate understanding of child development and behavioral health disorders Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams Model professional, ethical, and therapeutic behavior with residents, families, and colleaguesQualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or related field preferred Experience working with children or adolescents with behavioral or emotional challenges preferred Ability to manage crisis situations and maintain composure under pressure Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skillsWorking Conditions:
