Resident Assistant (Part-Time) - A Better Chance (ABC) of Andover About A Better Chance of Andover A Better Chance (ABC) of Andover is a residential educational opportunity program that provides academically talented young women of color from underserved communities with access to outstanding educational opportunities at local independent schools. Scholars live together in a supportive residential home where they receive academic, social, and emotional support as they prepare for success in high school, college, and beyond. Position Summary The Resident Assistant (RA) plays a vital role in creating a safe, supportive, and welcoming residential environment for ABC scholars. Working closely with the Resident Director and Executive Director, the RA serves as a mentor, role model, and resource for students while helping maintain the day-to-day operations of the house. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about youth development, mentoring, education, and creating a positive community for young people. Key Responsibilities Build positive relationships with scholars and serve as a trusted mentor and role model. Help supervise scholars during designated evening and weekend hours. Support the implementation of house routines, expectations, and community standards. Assist with study halls, house meetings, activities, and special events. Provide guidance and encouragement related to academics, personal growth, and independent living skills. Help foster a respectful, inclusive, and supportive residential community. Communicate student concerns, behavioral issues, or wellness needs to the Resident Director. Assist with transportation, errands, and program activities as needed. Support emergency response procedures and help ensure the safety and well-being of all scholars. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and program planning efforts. Qualifications Passion for working with adolescents and supporting their growth and development. Experience mentoring, teaching, coaching, counseling, or working with youth preferred. Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to establish appropriate boundaries while building meaningful relationships with students. Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently. Valid driver's license and clean driving record preferred. Ability to pass all required background checks. Schedule This is a part-time position primarily consisting of evening and weekend hours. Specific schedules will be determined based on program needs and staff availability. 15-20 hours per week Why Join ABC Andover?
