Job Requirements Job Summary Under limited supervision responsible for daily operations of the Residential Counselor staff. Assists with training, mentoring, coaching, and providing direction to Residential Counselor staff. Guides and helps develop Residential Counselor processes including workflows, setting strategies, and reviewing daily documentation. Monitors progress towards goals to include data tracking, developing team strengths, evaluating team goals and resolving conflict. Ensures team is adhering to the recovery model of service. Primary Responsibilities The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job responsibilities performed. Supervises the daily work activities of Residential Counselor staff in accordance with UMMS, Human Resources, and departmental policies and procedures with department leadership. Establishes work performance and quality standards in collaboration with the Residential Rehabilitation Program Coordinator. Assists in evaluation of problem areas within residential houses. Makes recommendations regarding program and staff assignments to the Rehab Coordinator and Assistant Program Manager. Conducts orientation and training of new employees. Assists in interviewing, selecting, and hiring staff. Reviews team members' administrative assignments and responsibilities with Residential Rehabilitation Program Coordinator standards. Supports and trains Residential Counselors. Communicates changes to schedules, application processes, registration needs/details to optimize Residential members contact and impact. Assists with preparing all training, orientation, and onboarding materials. Provides guidance and support to Residential Counselors during orientation and training. Seeks feedback from Rehab Coordinator team regarding additional needs for training and education and reports findings to assistant program manager. Analyzes members and program needs to identify challenges and opportunities for improvement of the Residential Counselor role. Utilizes a variety of assessment methods to determine learning needs of Residential Counselors. Engages with other community organizations and other staff to improve attitude toward health in the community, and connection between Residential Counselors to the community and other medical providers. Responsible for ensuring that all documentation is completed in accordance with departmental procedures and meets regulatory standards. Reviews Individualized Rehabilitation Plans and submits authorization requests to Optum. Communicates/collaborates with other Residential Rehabilitation Program Team Leads. Ensures that each staff member interacts with all members in a respectful, dignified, therapeutic, adult, engaging, and culturally sensitive manner. Enforces and interprets UMMS and departmental policies and procedures within the program. Communicates/collaborates with other Residential Rehabilitation Program Advocates for patients with various social systems when appropriate, and coordinates treatment with other involved agencies. Provides case management, as needed. Performs all other related duties as assigned. Education & Experience - Required High school diploma is required. Additional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis for up to four years. Five (5) years of professional counseling experience performing mental health services to include experience in residential rehabilitation and/or psychiatric rehabilitation services is preferred. CPR certification is required. Education & Experience - Preferred Bachelor's degree is preferred. Current, valid, Maryland state drivers' license is preferred.
