House Supervisor/DSP
Hourly Wage:
$22, $23Position Summary:
The House Supervisor/DSP is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day functions in the house. This includes securing the well-being and safety of the residents, supervising residential assistants and ensuring the recording of accurate information in CIMS data management system by the residential assistants required for Community Living Group Home billing.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participates in the development and implementation of Person-Centered-Plans.
- Supervises the residential assistants working within their assigned residence and ensures accountability. In collaboration with the Residential Program Manager, is responsible for any disciplinary actions for all reporting staff, including issuing verbal and written warnings. Makes recommendations to the Residential Program Manager for performance appraisals, suspensions, and terminations.
- Provides support and guidance to the residents in the house to ensure the following:
- The house, the appliances, the vehicles, and the equipment are safe, operational, and in good working order.
- The residents are engaged in meaningful activities that address the goals in their treatment plans.
- Protecting the rights of each resident in the house.
- Provides weekly checks of all service and medication books; reports errors/omissions promptly to the Residential Program Manager and completes audit forms as required.
- Ensures the recording of accurate information in CIMS data management system by residential assistants required for Community Living Group Home billing.
- Maintains the highest level of professionalism and is responsible for being the role model for staff, maintaining a positive approach at all times.
- Coordinates and participates in staff training by orienting new staff, arranging for staff to attend training sessions, and supporting ongoing staff development.
- Ensures fiscal responsibility and management by supporting individuals with banking, managing, and implementing household budgets, including but not limited to petty cash, food orders, and the individual's funds.
- Ensures that incident and seizure reports, activity calendars, weight charts, fire drills, outgoing mail, supply requests, inventories, etc., are accurate and submitted within established time frames.
- Completes employee performance evaluations on time.
- Participates in the Person-Centered-Planning process.
- Maintains the residential home and assigned vehicle(s) to ensure cleanliness, organization, and safety and takes corrective action when necessary.
- Takes necessary action in emergencies following Agency policies and procedures and reports such incidents to appropriate personnel.
- Transports persons served to medical appointments, adjunct therapies, and other activities.
- Communicate with the delegating nurse to coordinate medical services and ensure the completion of medical services.
- Obtains and maintains updated emergency contact and regulatory information in the homes.
- Monitors the medication supplies, administration of medications, reordering process, and the implementation of new/changed orders, documentation of administration, and documentation and reporting of problems and errors promptly.
- Ensures the completion of fire drills, routine water temperature checks, and safety committee reports as scheduled. Reviews and takes any corrective action needed and submits these reports each month.
- Reports vehicle problems, follows up on weekly vehicle reports and actions and arranges the drop-off and pick-up of vehicles for maintenance and repairs.
- Establishes accountability practices for petty cash and individual funds to ensure proper use, submit timely receipts on the designated forms, and report problems or irregularities.
- Initiates and follows up on maintenance requests utilizing established procedures for submitting and notifying emergency maintenance after hours.
- Supervises and assists the residents with menus, food preparation, housekeeping, personal care, laundry, and other daily living activities.
- Assists with behavior management to encourage the best possible residential experience.
- Acts as an agent of Linwood by exchanging appropriate and accurate information with the healthcare professional during medical, dental, and mental health appointments and interacting with the pharmacist to obtain medications.
- Administers correct and timely medication (oral, topical, nebulizers, bowel regimens) consistent with the Physician Medical Order Form (PMOF) and the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and ensures three-way checks.
- Responsible for ensuring appropriate coverage for the house 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
- Assumes the responsibility for the residents during the day when they are unable to attend school (e.g. for holidays, school closings, inclement weather, etc.). The supervisor will make every effort to arrange coverage; however, the final responsibility rests on them.
- Interacts and participates in consultations with supervisors and specialists as appropriate in order to assist in the implementation of the individual's treatment plan.
- Attends meetings to facilitate comprehensive program planning.
- Prepares appropriate documentation and reports as assigned.
- Uses technology for the completion of specified job duties.
- Learns and properly utilizes Linwood's Data Management System (CIMS) for maintaining accurate records and permitting accurate billing with DDA."
- Attends work regularly according to the assigned work schedule per Agency policy.
- Attends and participates in mandated DDA training, staff meetings, and other activities to facilitate professional development.
- Maintains current valid certifications for CMT, CPR/ First Aid and MANDT.
- May assumes other duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned. Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):
- A high school diploma or its equivalent is required.
- An associate degree or bachelor's degree from an accredited school in the human services field is preferred.
- Require at least two years of experience working with persons with a developmental disability in a group residence, with management or supervisory experience.
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Must have a valid MD driver's license and an acceptable driving record as determined by criteria established by the Agency's insurance carrier and by Agency policy.
- Required to drive Agency vehicles.

- To demonstrate the ability to organize and adequately provide documentation required by regulation and Linwood.
- To demonstrate interest and ability to address the developmental and social-emotional needs of adults with developmental disabilities.
- To be energetic, enthusiastic, patient, and understanding.
- To be flexible enough to work cooperatively with other staff in addressing individuals' physical, social-emotional, and behavioral needs.
- To demonstrate an understanding of fundamental rights and self-determination and assure that the individuals to whom he/she provides support be afforded these rights.
- To demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of Linwood's philosophy and the ability to teach Linwood's methods and philosophy to others.
- To engage professionally with Linwood staff, pare.
