Residential Counselor (Summer Job - Full-Time or Part-Time)
Location:
Candler, NC Pay:
$15.00 per hour
Schedule:
Monday-Friday (Day Shift) Other PRN shifts available. Are you looking for a meaningful summer job where you can have fun, gain experience, and positively impact youth? We are hiring Residential Counselors for the summer!
This opportunity is ideal for:
College students nearing graduation Recent graduates looking to build their résumés School teachers who are on summer break Anyone who wants to support youth in need
Position Summary:
The Residential Counselor provides direct supervision and support to up to four male clients (ages 11-17) living in a small residential treatment facility. Clients have mental health needs but are high-functioning and low-risk . Your role is to help maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment, while guiding and teaching daily living skills. This is an active, hands-on position—perfect for individuals who enjoy working with youth in engaging, real-world settings.
Daily Responsibilities Include:
Supervising and interacting with youth in daily activities Supporting the development of social and life skills Taking youth on community outings (e.g., parks, libraries, animal shelter, YMCA, hikes) Helping maintain a positive, therapeutic home environment Working closely with team members to meet the needs of all clients Supporting the transition of clients into more permanent living situations (family, foster care, or adoption)
Qualifications:
Must be at least 21 years old High school diploma or GED required Passion for working with youth (ages 11-17) Ability to stay calm in high-pressure situations Strong teamwork and communication skills Experience in mental health, childcare, or social services is a plus, but not required
