$52,000 - $55,000 (full-time, temporary for one year, with the expectation of transition to a term appointment in the future) Residential Life launched an innovative new staffing model to better deliver services and experiences to the over 7800 residential students on campus. This new approach to providing support to students who live in residence requires a high level of support for multiple positions while also creating new opportunities to deliver on our department goals.Residential Life Mission:
We provide a small school residential experience within a premier public university. Our dedicated staff and faculty educators engage with students in building strong communities that empower personal development and academic success. Our six diverse residential areas offer Bearcats a home away from home that supports learning and growth.Job Responsibilities include:
Hire, train and supervise 10-12 student housing assistants responsible for health & safety inspections, and general housing related tasks Oversee a centralized health & safety inspection process that includes supervising student staff conducting walkthroughs, documenting violations, managing observation data, corresponding with students via email, and submitting incident reports Utilize Maxient software to support the health & safety inspection process, as well as the Residential Life Student Support staff needs Hire, train and supervise 4-6 Residential Life Central Office student workers Coordinate the schedule for Residential Life Central Office coverage ensuring that the office is appropriately staffed at all times Train staff, including student staff on engagement with parents and families Provide assistance to students, families and staff via, phone, email and in person Assist with training on incident report writing for all Residential Life professional and student staff in conjunction with the Office of Student Conduct Closing procedures for all hall staff related to Thanksgiving, Winter Break, & Spring Break Complete administrative tasks Serves on departmental committees Participate in August and January training programs Facilitate opening and closing processes Occasional evening, night, or weekend work may be required if a situation warrants this need Participate in University's duty rotation as an on-call emergency response assistant as necessary This position is classified as an essential employeeJob Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (or higher) Experience in Student Affairs Effective administrative, communication, leadership and decision-making skills Flexible and adaptable to working in a dynamic environment Ability to be self-directed, while comfortable working within a teamPreferred:
Master's degree (or higher) in College Student Personnel or a related field Experience working in Residential Life Experience working with the parents or families of students Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
