Youth Resident Assistant - On call Amavi LLC Columbus, OH Job Details Part-time $15 - $20 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Crisis intervention CPR Certification First aid High school diploma or GED Driver's License Working with children Human Services Associate's degree Full Job Description Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate On-Call Youth Resident Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will provide direct care and supervision to youth residing in Amavi's group home on an as-needed, flexible basis. On-Call staff step in to ensure continuity of care and consistent programming when regular staff are unavailable. They are expected to be fully familiar with Amavi's policies, procedures, and individual youth care plans so they can integrate seamlessly into any shift without disrupting the therapeutic environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct Youth Support Provide consistent, caring supervision and support to youth in the residential home during assigned shifts Build trusting, therapeutic relationships with youth that promote safety, dignity, and emotional growth Model and reinforce positive behavior, healthy communication, and conflict resolution skills Assist youth with daily living activities including meals, hygiene, homework, chores, and recreational activities Transport youth to appointments, school, and community activities as needed Trauma-Informed Care Implement individualized care plans developed by the clinical team with consistency and fidelity Use trauma-informed, de-escalation techniques to support youth during behavioral or emotional crises Recognize and respond to signs of emotional distress, self-harm risk, or acute mental health needs Maintain a calm, structured, and nurturing environment consistent with Amavi's therapeutic model Documentation & Communication Complete accurate, timely shift logs, incident reports, and behavioral observations in accordance with agency policy Communicate effectively with incoming shift staff during handoffs to ensure continuity of care Participate in team meetings, staff trainings, and clinical consultations as required Report concerns regarding youth safety, welfare, or program compliance to supervisory staff immediately Home Management Assist with maintaining a clean, safe, and organized residential environment Support meal preparation, household tasks, and supply management as assigned Administer and document medications per agency protocol and training (when certified) Ensure compliance with all licensing, safety, and regulatory requirements applicable to residential programming On-call availability Maintain reliable availability and respond to shift coverage requests within the timeframe established in your on-call agreement Notify the program director as early as possible if unavailable for a requested shift Maintain a minimum of 2 worked shifts per week to retain active per diem status Participate in mandatory training and orientation updates to remain eligible for shift assignments Scheduling Expectations Per diem staff are not guaranteed a set number of hours each week. However, Amavi is committed to offering consistent opportunities to staff who make themselves available. The following expectations apply to all per diem staff: Minimum availability 2 shifts per week, including at least 1 overnight or weekend shift On-call response time Must be reachable and able to report to facility within 2 hours of call Blackout periods Staff must work at least 1 of every 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) Inactive status Staff who work fewer than 2 shifts in a 30-day period without prior notice may be removed from the on-call poolQUALIFICATIONS
Required High school diploma or GED equivalent Minimum 1 year of experience working with youth in a residential, educational, behavioral health, or direct care setting Valid Ohio driver's license with a clean driving record Ability to pass a BCI/FBI background check (required for all direct care staff) CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire) Genuine commitment to trauma-informed, person-centered, and equity-focused care Preferred Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field Experience working with youth involved in the child welfare, juvenile justice, or behavioral health systems Training in trauma-informed care, crisis de-escalation (TCI, CPI, or equivalent), or motivational interviewing Medication administration certification (MEDAIDE) or willingness to obtain Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly encouraged to apply This position is ideal for motivated individuals passionate about supporting youth through compassionate care, structured routines, and evidence-based interventions.
