Description:
The Residential Mentor PRN role involves collaborating with both staff and clients to create an inclusive and trauma-sensitive environment, fostering a sense of empowerment in clients to rebuild their self-esteem and pursue their aspirations. The position requires flexibility to cover shifts as needed.
Essential Responsibilities:
General management of the residence during shift including maintaining household duties, enforcing policies outlined in Client Handbook, carrying out safety regulations/standards and providing an atmosphere conducive to rehabilitation, paying specific attention to confidentiality. This role has direct responsibility for the residents in case of emergency. Maintain constant resident interaction, remaining alert and present throughout your shift. Provide empathetic support to residents in emotional distress, aiding in conflict resolution when necessary. Oversee meal preparation, supply security, and lock the kitchen. Coordinate evening activities, special programs, and assist with client awards ceremonies. Administer drug tests and perform room searches as required. Manage transportation for residents, utilizing the van and ordering cabs as necessary. Assist in fire drills and other inspections as required. Fulfill additional duties as directed by the Manager of Clinical Services and residential team leads, including potential shifts or locations. Participate in monthly staff meetings. Position may include working other shifts or program locations as needed.
Operating Procedures Medication Management:
Dispense over-the-counter medication as needed, and record in log.
Supervision of Household Duties:
Supply clients with cleaning materials, oversee their chore initiation, completion, and accuracy.
Securing Premises:
Verify exterior doors are locked at the start and end of your shift, and confirm all appliances, such as washers, dryers, and irons, are turned off. Qualifications Prefer a bachelor's degree in human services or a related field. Experience with substance abuse, mental health, or homelessness. Hold a valid Texas Driver's license with no outstanding warrants or tickets. Demonstrate maturity and decision-making ability. Willingness to assist residents as necessary. Open to supervision and guidance. Able to maintain appropriate boundaries with residents. Clean criminal record. Flexible availability for shifts is preferred. Imagine Your Impact… Making a
