Job Description
Role and Responsibilities The HIP Outreach Worker supports harm reduction preparation and outreach activities/events, including packing outreach supplies; loading and transporting supplies; setting up and breaking down tables and tents; assisting with participant registration and related documentation; directing participants to staff or appropriate services; and distributing supplies. Office-based support with harm reduction supplies and program organization. The HIP Outreach Worker reports to and is supervised by the Harm Reduction Coordinator.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(75%):- Provide support to the Harm Reduction Specialists in the preparation of harm reduction and associated outreach activities and events; preparation, transportation, set-up and take-down, unpacking
- Assist at outreach activities and events: registration documentation, supplies distribution, redirection to appropriate staff and services area;
- Conduct a basic overview of HIP services information and periodic survey feedback from participants at outreach activities.
- Support daily harm reduction supply processing by assisting with deliveries and placing packages in storage.
- Communication and behavior are expected to be professional and courteous toward staff, participants, and clients.
- This field-based position requires a personal vehicle to transport supplies, and equipment to and from outreach sites.
ADMINISTRATIVE
(10%):- Comply with City, County, State, and Federal contractual agreements.
- Gather and submit activity and event paperwork to the site lead or program coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum Two years of college education related to the field or equivalent work experience related to the position.
- Proficiency in writing and comprehension skills.
- Proficiency in Word and Excel applications.
- Able to communicate clearly and professionally Preferred Skills
- Bilingual or bicultural capabilities with Los Angeles County threshold languages: Arabic, Armenian, Cantonese, Farsi, Urdu, Khmer (Cambodian), Korean, Mandarin, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Japanese, Samoan, Tongan, Hawaiian, and or other AAPI languages.
- Fluent in Spanish (verbal and written)
- Knowledge of substance abuse (particularly alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and prescription drugs) and related issues General Requirements and Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's):
- Permanent resident or U.S. Citizen; proof of work eligibility upon hiring.
- Valid California Driver's License and personal vehicle insurance
- Must have at least (1) year of recovery or drug-free lifestyle as of the date of the application.
- Must provide proof of full vaccination and 1st Booster against Covid-19 upon hiring.
- Ability to get along well with others, be punctual, pleasant, and tactful with professional appearance and conduct.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, clients and their families, community organizations, and the general public.
- Ability to be culturally competent in age groups, gender identity, sexual orientation, spiritual beliefs, socioeconomic status, and diverse cultures.
Physical Requirements:
Moderate Duty This class requires that the incumbent stand or walk most of the time, with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, working, or handling irregular surfaces; occasional lifting of objects over 25 pounds; and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds. Ascending and descending ladders and staircases will be more frequent. For example, this position frequently involves moving and organizing agency supplies to outreach sites.AADAP, INC.
