04/30/2026 @ 2:00 P.M.Summary of Duties:
Position provides legal advice and representation to the Fremont County Department of Human Services in the areas of child protection, child support enforcement (CSE), adult protective services (APS), juvenile delinquency and other management issues. Incumbent performs a variety of complex, administrative, technical and professional legal services as it relates to the Department of Human Services programs. Prepares child welfare cases for filing, litigation and/or negotiate settlements, prepares orders for court signature, and represents the Department in all court actions authorized by child welfare, juvenile delinquency and child support statutes. Provides consultation, advice and training to child welfare caseworkers regarding court reports, filing petitions and motions, review hearings, permanency planning hearings and general court appearances. Prepares child support cases for filing, litigation, contempt and/or negotiate settlements for establishment and enforcement of child support orders, prepares orders for court signature, paternity, and interstate cases. Represents the Department in all court actions necessitated and authorized for child support cases. Provides consultation, advice and training to child support technicians in the legal aspects of child support cases. Interprets laws, rulings and regulations as they relate to the Department. Prepares briefs, pleadings, stipulations and other legal documents for the Child Welfare, Adult Protection and Child Support Units, and represents the Department in all court actions necessitated and authorized through the Department. Reviews and interprets the intent of Federal and State statutes, case law and regulations concerning the Department. Determines the need to address the statutes, laws or regulations. Provides advice, guidance and training regarding application of and compliance with such as it relates to the circumstance(s). Advises and represents the Department in criminal court hearings for domestic violence when children are involved, and a referral has been made to the Department.Minimum Qualifications:
Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from accredited institution and one (1) to five (5) years of trial experience with preference given to experience obtained in a social/human services capacity or practice.Additional Requirements/Information:
Must possess a current and valid Colorado Driver's License; be admitted and fully licensed to practice law in the state of Colorado; be permitted and licensed to practice law in all Colorado courts, including administrative courts, and the U.S. District Court of Colorado and possess a vehicle which is in good working condition with current, valid liability insurance.
