As a part time Peer Support Specialist, you will help clients with a history of substance use or mental health conditions. The Peer Support Specialist is a (trained and certified) individual with lived experience in mental health and/or substance use recovery, who provides support, mentoring, guidance, and advocacy to others facing similar challenges. Peer Support Specialists are fully integrated team members who provide highly individualized services in the community and promote client self-determination and decision making. All team members at Neighborhood Health will maintain patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with HIPAA policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Work well with and provide services to a variety of clients in various stages of behavioral health illness/substance use treatment; maintain appropriate boundaries, identify and nurture strengths, and support clients' right to make independent decisions as appropriate. Provide peer-to-peer support services in the office and/or in the field including, but not limited to outreach, support, encouragement, guidance, advocacy, and referrals to internal/external resources and services for clients and their families from diverse cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds. Participate as a member of multidisciplinary treatment teams; address client concerns, barriers, progress, and other relevant information to enhance treatment services; assist and support clients in maintaining cooperative and effective relationships with treatment teams. Meet with mental health professionals to establish treatment plans; suggest appropriate changes in treatment plans to ensure immediate and appropriate interventions are provided in response to changes in clients' mental status or behaviors that put clients at risk. Maintain accurate, detailed, and thorough documentation, case records, and notes of all relevant activities and services related to client care; complete necessary documentation for billing purposes in a compliant and timely fashion. Maintain client confidentiality in compliance with all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA) regulations. Attend and participate in a variety of meetings, training, utilization and peer review activities, and other functions involving supervision, case consultation, and public information and education. Be aware of personal mental health needs and model a healthy lifestyle. Be responsible for additional activities as needed or assigned by supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education / Training Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade. Experience Two (2) years of experience providing peer support services to clients in a behavioral health care setting. Licensure/Certification CPR certified. TB Certified. Possession of a valid Indiana Certified Peer Support Professional certification (or ability to obtain within a specified time period after start of employment), to be maintained throughout employment.
