About the
Role:
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and patient individual to provide direct support to a young adult with autism. The ideal candidate will help foster independence, provide daily living skills, and encourage community and social engagement in a respectful and supportive manner. Our client enjoys reading Manga and novels of various genres, watching anime, playing computer-based video games, walking, going out to restaurants, and building friendships. He benefits greatly from conversations about his interests with his support staff, and taking the time to develop rapport is essential for success in this role. The service provider should be flexible and patient, understanding that the client is gradually building stamina for longer sessions and community involvement.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support with daily living skills, organization, and routine activities.
  • Engage in conversations about the client's interests, including anime, Manga, video games, and books.
  • Encourage and facilitate opportunities for social connection and friendship-building.
  • Support participation in personal interests such as reading, gaming, walking, and exploring restaurants.
  • Assist with community outings, social opportunities, and recreational activities.
  • Support executive functioning skills such as planning, problem-solving, and task follow-through.
  • Communicate effectively with family members and other support providers.
Qualifications:
  • Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and empathy.
  • Ability to build rapport by engaging authentically in the client's interests.
  • Flexible and supportive of the client's pace in building independence and stamina.
  • Reliable, punctual, and adaptable.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Pay:
$28.00 per hour
