As an Urban Youth Summer Intern , you'll gain hands-on experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities while exploring a meaningful career in Human Services. Through the Department of Developmental Services Urban Youth Collaborative Program , you'll build real-world skills, connect with your community, and make a difference—all in one summer. Responsibilities Provide direct support with daily living activities such as personal care, meals, and routines. Help individuals engage in community outings —think parks, restaurants, libraries, concerts, and more. Plan and lead fun, structured activities like arts & crafts, music, cooking, and social events. Promote independence, dignity, and inclusion in everything you do. Encourage social interaction and skill-building through group and community activities. Work closely with a team to ensure consistent, high-quality care and support . Follow program guidelines, safety protocols, and participate in trainings and team meetings . No experience required—just a strong interest in Human Services Compassion, patience, and a willingness to learn Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to assist with daily living tasks and mobility support (training provided) Qualifications Must be 18-24 years old Currently enrolled in high school, a training program, or college Reliable transportation Availability for the full program July through August
