Full Time Summary The Peer Recovery Coach (PRC) provides compassionate, lived-experience-based support to patients with substance use disorders. Reporting to the Department of Care Coordination and the Peer Recovery Coach Supervisor, the PRC engages patients in recovery planning, delivers brief interventions using SBIRT, links patients to treatment and community resources, and provides follow-up support to promote sustained recovery and prevent relapse. The PRC is a visible role model, advocate, and member of the interdisciplinary SUD team. Key Responsibilities Build trusting, recovery-focused relationships with patients during hospitalization and through community follow-up. Use SBIRT and motivational interviewing to assess needs, deliver brief interventions, and develop individualized recovery plans. Coordinate and facilitate connections to treatment and community supports (appointments, transportation, verification, outreach). Provide peer support, education, and coping/self-help strategies to patients and families. Serve as a resource to clinical teams on recovery support and community referrals. Complete required documentation, participate in team huddles and trainings, and comply with department policies and regulatory standards.Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or GED.Experience:
2-3 years in active recovery plus at least 2 years professional experience in SUD, behavioral health peer support/navigation, community outreach, or as a certified peer specialist.Certification:
CCAR training required. Maryland state certification required within 6-12 months of hire (department support and reimbursement provided after passing).Skills:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to establish trust and motivate change, competency with SBIRT and motivational interviewing, basic problem-solving and self-care practices. Minimum 22.33/hour - Maximum 36.86/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
