Job Description
Human Services Assistant
Non-Merit positions are not classified within the Baltimore County Government Classification and Compensation Plan.
A list of eligible applicants will be established based on the examination as outlined below.
All interested candidates must apply at this time.
List all promotions and changes in job duties due to reclassification as separate work experiences on your application.

Assists clients and others in obtaining supportive information as required and contacts other agencies to verify information. Assists in placing clients into other programs. Assists in providing client navigation and linkage to care. Assists in providing outreach and community engagement services. Computes dollar amounts of grants for clients based on established guidelines. Initiates procedures to grant, modify, deny or terminate clients' participation in program. Regularly reviews clients' activities with professionals in program. Maintains detailed records of cases and assembles these into periodic reports.
Physical and Environmental ConditionsThis position is essentially sedentary with occasional walking, lifting, or other restricted physical activity.
Medical Examination and Employment Background InvestigationApplicants selected for employment with Baltimore County must successfully complete a physical examination, drugscreening and employment investigation, including, but not limited to criminal background, education certification andfingerprinting checks.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Under close supervision, determines eligibility of applicants for various programs and services in areas such as public or mental health, social services, and aging; and assists Human Services Associates and other professionals with case management and/or client navigation and linkage to care.EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTES
Interviews clients and reviews applications and other forms to determine eligibility for financial aid or other health-related services according to established guidelines. Explains program policies and procedures to clients.Assists clients and others in obtaining supportive information as required and contacts other agencies to verify information. Assists in placing clients into other programs. Assists in providing client navigation and linkage to care. Assists in providing outreach and community engagement services. EXAMPLES OF OTHER DUTIES
Assists walk-in clients and answers telephone inquiries. May conduct home visits to obtain or verify information. Assists with telephonic public inquires related to health-related preventative and diagnostic services. Provides guidance to clients regarding community resources and public benefits.
