The work involves providing therapeutic or work-related experience individualized to each resident and includes supportive record-keeping functions. Activities include preparing meals for youth, staff, visitors, and for special functions. Prepare snacks according to the Department of Education guidelines. Provide leadership and instruction to residents in maintenance work on the pods, cleaning the building, grounds, kitchen assignments, and other tasks. Experience Youth Aide 6 No specific type or amount is required. Youth Aide 7 One year of experience equivalent to a Youth Aide 6. Youth Aide E8 Two years of experience equivalent to a Youth Aide, including one year equivalent to a Youth Aide 7.
Preferred Experience:
Two years of general cooking experience. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) software of any kind is prohibited in all areas of the selection process; including, but not limited to, responses to application questions, and responses to interview questions or exercises.

The preferred and appointed candidate will be subject to pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, return-to-duty and follow-up drug and/or alcohol testing. Position(s) are located in the Department of Health and Human Services, Michigan Children's Services Agency, Juvenile Justice, Bay Pines Center, 2425 North 30th Street, Escanaba, MI. 49829. Positions primarily are being filled as permanent-intermittent (hours may vary) with the possibility of going permanent full-time in the future but there is no guarantee. It is possible that some positions may be filled as limited term, as needed. If a position is filled as limited term, there is potential that it could become permanent (or permanent-intermittent) but it is never guaranteed. Traditionally employees in this position, average 40 hours per week; however overtime and full-time hours are not guaranteed. As a
Condition of Employment:
Possession of a valid driver's license. Any individual with a felony conviction, or who has a pending felony charge, is ineligible for consideration for employment. An applicant (who was not currently employed in a Bureau of Juvenile Justice facility prior to November 1, 2000) who has been convicted of any misdemeanor shall not be eligible for employment until two years subsequent to the completion of any sentence imposed, including probation.
