Job Description
JOB Please note that this is a Grand Funded Position. If this Grant Funding should end at any time, you should have the opportunity to apply for any posted HealthWest position that meets your qualifications. A Recovery Coach, under general review of various HealthWest program supervisors, provides a welcoming atmosphere, skills training, advocacy, and support to individuals receiving services that are living with substance abuse or co-occurring issues. An employee in this class may coordinate and/or co-facilitate groups including group outings into the community, motivating individuals toward recovery, and achieving personal goals; and/or co-facilitating groups in skills training, dual diagnosis, recovery issues, substance abuse issues, and other groups as assigned. A Recovery Coach facilitates individual's care by building relationships and meeting with the individuals receiving services, their guardians, families, support systems, and other key persons in the individual's life. This employee transports individuals receiving services, completes necessary documentation which includes communicating effectively in both oral and written form and maintaining accurate records, including utilizing basic computer software and performs other related duties as assigned.
Post Hire Training Requirements1. Completion of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) approved training curriculum to be certified as a peer recovery coach within 12 months of employment.2. Must obtain 32 hours of required continuing education courses between the two (2) year period following certification and re-certification.
Preferred but not Required1. Bilingual candidates highly desired.2. Lived experiences with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders valued.3. Individuals with experience in Armed Services valued.
PURPOSEThe purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list from which to fill present and future vacancies in this classification in the County system. For each opening, the Department Head has her/his choice of the candidates who meet the required minimum entrance qualifications. This list remains in effect for three months unless exhausted or extended.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES 1.
Be a high school graduate or have a certificate of completion of the General Educational Development (GED) Test.2. Individual must have a substance use disorder (SUD) and/or addiction(s), have received or is currently receiving treatment; have two continuous years in recovery at one point in time from addiction(s) after the age of 18; and experience in navigating complex treatment services.3. Self-identifies as having a substance use disorder, co-occurring disorder(s), and/or non-substance addictive disorder(s) with a substantial life disruption and shares their recovery story in supporting others;4. Possess a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Michigan Driver License within 30 days of employment.5. Must have reliable transportation that may have to be used to carry out job duties of this classification.Post Hire Training Requirements1.
