EVERY OTHER WEEKEND
: Saturday 11:30 AM•8:00 PM and Sunday 10:30 AM•2:30 PM
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Resident Life Assistant will provide in-the-moment engagement across Carol Woods' higher levels of support (assisted living, assisted nursing, skilled nursing), to residents who are interested in social opportunities and do not typically participate in scheduled programming, or who need one-to-one support. The person in this role is also expected to: Uphold and put into daily practice the values of Carol Woods. Support the well-being and quality of life of every individual resident. Function as a good steward of resident resources. Contribute to Carol Woods' approach to continual quality improvement. Support the concepts of a learning organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Provide one-to-one, in-the-moment or planned engagement Move between Assisted Living and the Health Center, based on acuity in the buildings, and present needs in neighborhoods Collaborate with Resident Life Coordinator, Life Enrichment, and direct-care staff to understand where support is needed Collaborate with residents, loved ones, and coworkers to learn residents' social and engagement preferences Assist residents in getting outdoors, activities around campus, and other opportunities as they arise Facilitate small group activities, such as reading, reminiscing, light exercise, painting, etc. May at times assist in creating a positive dining experience for those wishing to engage during a meal Provide descriptive documentation of resident visits or observations Exercise curiosity, empathy, and compassion when working with residents Completion of mandatory online educational modules (monthly and as otherwise assigned). Attendance at required educational sessions, in-services and staff meetings Involvement/understanding of Organizational Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) program. All other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
HS Diploma or equivalent
Experience:
Training or experiencing working with people living with dementia preferred Activity/engagement experience preferred
Physical Requirements:
Stand, or walk for long periods of time Pushing residents in wheelchairs
Competencies:
Sociable Comfort in adjusting to changing needs of residents Creative mindset Ability to connect easily with others Self-initiative and ease with working independently Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
Working Conditions:
Climate Controlled Environment Outdoors
