Job Title:
Outreach Supervisor Position Summary LIFE Camp, Inc. seeks committed and experienced individuals to manage the front lines of our efforts to reduce violence in South Jamaica, Queens. Our Violence Intervention and Prevention System works with community residents, businesses, and community-based organizations to implementCure Violence:
The Campaign to Stop the Shooting. Cure Violence is a strategic public health strategy designed to reduce and prevent shootings and killings in Jamaica, Queens, and other communities throughout Queens with a high burden of homicide. The Cure Violence Outreach Worker Supervisor is a key component to the success of this initiative. Principal Responsibilities Plan day-to-day and week-to-week activities with and for the outreach staff. Plan and facilitate daily meetings to review current shootings and assess additional interventions that may be needed. Connect with additional resources from neighboring communities, including gang mediation assistance, to obtain support when necessary. Supervise outreach staff, including maintaining daily communication with each staff member. Conduct outreach throughout the community to build strong relationships with youth, residents, businesses, and community groups. Coordinate interview panels to hire outreach staff. Attend Jamaica, Queens Project weekly supervision meetings as scheduled by the Project. Advocate for youth through court testimony when necessary. Increase staff visibility when shootings or killings occur by developing networks with other outreach program workers to coordinate an inclusive, immediate, and strategic response. Investigate the causes of shootings and killings to assist in mediating situations and preventing retaliation between individuals and groups by working with the community, outreach programs, and local law enforcement to gather information that may help prevent additional violence. Identify and diffuse "hot spots" for shootings and violence by conducting observational surveys with residents and community-based organizations to identify areas frequented by potential offenders. Attend and participate in meetings with law enforcement, community outreach workers, prosecutors, probation officers, and agencies that provide opportunities and services to discuss recent incidents and coordinate collective efforts to stop violence. Facilitate violence prevention and life skills workshops in local schools, parks, and community-based organizations. Document detailed client case notes and oversee the coordination of all staff reports. Qualification Requirements Bachelor's degree in a Human Services-related field (e.g., Sociology, Social Work, etc.) or equivalent experience. Extensive experience working with at-risk youth and gang-involved individuals. Excellent communication skills. Experience and/or training in crisis intervention and staff supervision. Valid New York State driver's license.Pay:
