The Student Organization Support Coordinator of Student Government and Organization Services (SGOS) is a dynamic, student-focused leader responsible for ensuring the vitality, compliance, and effective operation of the entire Registered Student Organization (RSO) ecosystem. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Students in Student Affairs, this role serves as a primary contact and consultant for RSOs, their student leaders, and advisors. The Coordinator strategically manages RSO governance, drives comprehensive training curriculum development, oversees high-impact event execution, and maintains stewardship of the RSO digital platform.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
RSO Governance, Compliance, and Policy Stewardship :
This area focuses on maintaining the integrity and compliance of the RSO community through structured processes and policy administration.Strategic Registration Management:
Strategically plan, promote, and execute the annual registration cycle for returning RSOs, optimizing processes for efficiency and compliance.New Organization Vetting:
Oversee the intake, review, and approval of new RSO applications, ensuring thorough vetting of governing documents, advisor confirmation, and student eligibility.Institutional Data Integrity:
Maintain and steward the official University master list of RSOs, accurately tracking current, inactive, and affiliated groups for critical institutional data reporting.Policy Assessment:
Collaborate on the continuous assessment, maintenance, and development of RSO-related policies, ensuring they are clear, equitable, and align with institutional priorities.Training, Advising, and Resource Development :
This area centers on developing the skills of RSO leaders and advisors through comprehensive training and expert consultation.Curriculum Design:
Design, implement, and assess a holistic training curriculum for both student organization officers and advisors. This includes developing high-impact workshops, online modules, and conferences on critical topics such as: Risk Management and Liability. Financial Stewardship and Budgeting. Effective Officer Transition and Succession Planning.Organizational Governance and Goal Setting Expert Consultation:
Serve as the primary, high-level consultant to RSO leaders, campus advisors, faculty, and staff on complex operational and governance topics, including parliamentary procedure, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation.Digital Resource Strategy:
Proactively manage the content and architecture of the RSO website (www.ou.edu/rso), analyzing user needs to ensure it remains the central, high-impact digital hub for all organizational resources.Technology and Event Management :
This area involves leading the operational management of the RSO digital platform and guiding the student event registration process.Platform Administration:
Serve as a lead administrator for the RSO online platform, optimizing its functionality for registration, communication, event tracking, and data reporting to enhance the user experience.Event Compliance Oversight:
Strategically manage the RSO event registration and approval process, ensuring all student events (including high-impact activities) comply with University policies, safety procedures, and risk mitigation protocols.Operational Guidance:
Provide professional guidance to students on complex event logistics, facility usage protocols, and necessary university approvals to facilitate successful and safe RSO activities.Reporting Structure and Collaboration :
The Student Organization Support Coordinator reports directly to the Assistant Dean of Students in Student Affairs This position works collaboratively with the administrative assistant and account specialist to provide seamless support and stewardship of financial accounts and organizational data across the department. Bachelor's Degree in related field. 36 months in student programming, student services or closely related experience.Equivalency/Substitution :
Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's Degree for a total of 84 months experience.Department Preferences:
Experience supporting student organizations on a university campus. Experience managing a student organization/engagement platform. Experience creating, presenting, and assessing educational presentations geared towards student organizations. Experience collaborating with other departments to provide seamless customer service.
