This position requires an energetic and creative activities professional, ideally with experience in working with an older population, including knowledge of dementia care, medical documentation, and creative thinking. Our ideal candidate is great at connecting with people. Knowledge and experience vitality and aging is preferred; teamwork, flexibility, and mental agility is required. We are especially interested if you have knowledge and experience in working with individuals affected by dementia, Parkinson's, arthritis, and other related conditions.Essential Job Functions:
Gathers for and hosts a set of stimulating daily activities per activity calendar that meet individual needs while emphasizing member rights in daily interactions, allowing for member choice and maximizing member independence and participation. Assists Manager and Coordinator in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating and directing activities/wellness in accordance with Terwilliger policies and procedures as well as State & Federal requirements Assists in coordinating events and member transfers with other Plaza staff following designated protocols Works closely with CNA's and other staff in promoting member participation in daily activities Keeps daily record of member attendance noting changes in condition/behaviors Performs data tracking and analysis as needed Assists in producing activity assessments, updating care plans and attending care conferences, as needed Assists in orienting and supervising volunteers Provides one-on-one activities for members as assigned Operates computer to produce documentation using Excel, Word, Publisher & Outlook Participates in organizational record keeping and documentation processesSchedule:
Tuesday - Saturday 8:30am - 5:00pmQualifications:
2-3 years' experience working with an older population in activities in recreation is preferred, especially within a long-term care facility or CCRC. Knowledge of state and federal regulations, documentation processes, dietary restrictions and behavior intervention and redirection preferred. Dementia preservice training is required and provided. Food handler's card required (can obtain after employment)Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
Strong communication skills including ability to listen, read, write and speak English well. Knowledge of professional skills in organization, appearance and demeanor. Promotes teamwork and Quality Improvement programs, outwardly supports Plaza Mission Statements and Goals. Knowledge of appropriate therapies and activities. Knowledge of Medical terminology and application. Ability to make quick, clear judgments based on facts and communicates issues with sensitivity to different communication styles. Apply common sense to understand and carry out detailed, involved instructions. Ability to work alone and as a member of a team, able to plan own work activities and work with a minimum amount of supervision. Ability to accept responsibility for leadership, direction, control, planning, negotiating, organizing, formulating practices, or making decisions. Ability to influence people's opinions, attitudes, or judgments about ideas or things; to motivate, convinces, or negotiates. Ability to maintain relationships that facilitate task accomplishment; to cooperate and resolve conflicts; to recognize needs and be sensitive of others. Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature, involving differences in techniques, procedures, physical demands, or work situations, without loss of efficiency or composure. Ability to identify task requirements, monitor progress toward accomplishment and meet deadlines for completion of projects in a timely manner. Ability to systematically identify and define problems, evaluates alternatives, and implements cost effective solutions. Attends in-services and training to learn and improve self to comply with the Plaza's philosophy to promote the Dimensions of Wellness (emotional, intellectual, physical, social, spiritual and vocational wellness) of whole person wellness for members.
