JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary:
  • Provide social work services to RHY Basic Center youth and their families
  • Educate schools, community groups, youth and families about the RHY Basic Center program and strategies to prevent runaway behavior by conducting community outreach activities
  • Participate in the Philadelphia Safe Place program by engaging community partners
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct outreach to alert communities, schools, juvenile justice system personnel, youth and families about the RHY Basic Center program services and resources, as well as to educate about strategies to prevent runaway behavior
  • Assist the Supervisor in the case management services through collaboration with schools, agencies, family members and relevant persons in regard to the youth's overall progress
  • Develop and keep current a resource manual for appropriate referrals for the hotline service
  • Maintain individual client files according to State and Federal regulations
  • Receive hotline calls and train Youth Emergency Service (YES) shelter staff about hotline services
  • Receive referrals and conduct intake assessments on initial contacts
  • Coordinate aftercare services by initiating contacts and providing individual and group counseling sessions
  • Attend relevant conferences, training sessions, staff meetings and supervision

Agency Code of Ethics Competencies:
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Timeliness in responding to emails and phone calls
  • Knowledge of PA 3800 regulations preferred
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree and experience working with adolescents
Preferred Education:
Social Work or Counseling Work Environment:
This position is 100% in-person, with flexible schedule options. Occasional travel off-site locations will be required. The candidate for this position will routinely use computers, photocopiers, filing cabinets and other standard office equipment.
Physical Demands:
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
