Job Summary As an Outreach Worker you will be working with parents and students to empower them to improve learning and graduate high school. The main goal for this position is to enhance every child's education and learning experience by strengthening the partnership between schools, families, and the community. Attendance and physical presence are required and is an essential function of this position. Essential Functions Facilitate a warm and welcoming Family Engagement Center Build positive relationships with the community, parents, students, teachers, staff, administrators, and co-workers. Coordinate basic needs resources Work with Community Partners Teach academic and functional support skills to adults using district approved curriculum. Including but not limited to the following classes: Adult ESL Computer Together Time Family communication/advocacy Parenting Parent involvement in school- gradebook, portal, etc… Attend assigned meetings Attend District professional development trainings. Assist principals and school community councils with partnership activities that meet the goals of their school parent involvement plan. Work independently using initiative based on needs as well as collaboratively with school/community/district personnel. Inform patrons/families of available school, GSD, and Community resources/services. Assist assigned schools with
SEP/SEOP/ APTT
meetings. Facilitate partnerships and involvement between parents, school, and school-parent organizations. Turn in monthly reports Non-Essential Functions Other duties as assigned Required Education and Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Required Prior Experience none Required Knowledge and Skills Experience working with schools and families preferred. Assigned Decision Making none Interactions with Others Engage with teachers, counselors, and administrators to align efforts for improving student achievement. Build positive relationships with the community, parents, students, teachers, staff, administrators, and co-workers. Attend assigned meetings Work with Community Partners Supervisory Responsibility none Budget Responsibility none Working Environment Build positive relationships with the community, parents, students, teachers, staff, administrators, and co-workers. Physical Requirements - Not limited to the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to speak and/or hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, and crouch. Occasionally required to use hands to handle or feel and must occasionally climb or balance. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Must be able to stand for long periods of time Employee may be asked to assist with food pantry set up that would require lifting no more than 20 lbs.
