Job Description

A Visit Support Worker provides supervision of family visits in the Family Visitation Program. During visits, observes, assesses, educates, and completes documentation. The position requires an unwavering commitment to safety, supervision, communication, and to ensuring that the visit guidelines are followed. The Visit Support Worker is responsible for communicating with the agency supervisor, DSS when required, and for following all KidsPeace policies and procedures. Supervise all family visits as assigned, which may include community visits, visits in client homes, visits in neutral settings, and visits in various KidsPeace visitation sites. Documenting visits, transportation of clients, testifying in court, attending case meetings, attending trainings and supervision are all job requirements. Job Duties / Essential Functions
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment. Act immediately to remove all dangers or threats to the welfare of kids and families. Use good judgment and clear communication when a safety intervention is required. Inform all appropriate parties in a timely manner.
  • Provide the level of supervision to families and children according to the guidelines set forth by the referring party and
  • KidsPeace.
  • Use good judgment and excellent communication skills to ward off impending crises. Properly manage crisis situations. Intervene effectively when the guidelines for the visit are not being followed.
  • Document all visits in a timely fashion according to program standards. Attend to all agency paperwork requirements.
  • Transportation of clients as required, according to KP policies and Virginia State laws.
  • Communicate all relevant client information to appropriate parties on a timely basis.
Communicate effectively with collateral contacts, in case meetings, at court proceedings, and in supervision. Modeling appropriate parenting and communication skills in all interactions with children. Teaching appropriate methods of discipline, proper boundaries, and treatment strategies appropriate for the client and client family. Qualifications (Education, Training and Experiences) 1. High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree preferred. 2. Valid Driver's License with a reliable means of transportation with liability insurance in a minimum amount of $100,000/300,000. 3. Six months of experience with children and/or families preferred.
