5/7/2026 (1st screening date 5/17/26) Lead the Mission to End Homelessness in Our Nation's Capital The DC Department of Human Services is seeking a visionary leader to serve as Family Services Administrator—a mission-critical role at the forefront of the District's efforts to end homelessness and transform lives. The Opportunity As Family Services Administrator, you'll lead one of the most impactful social services operations in the country. You'll oversee nearly 275 dedicated staff members, manage a $500M budget, and direct an extensive network of nonprofit partners—all while making a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable adults, families, youth, and children across the District. Reporting directly to the DHS Director, you'll guide five essential service divisions:- Community Services
- Adult Homeless Services
- Family Homeless Services
- Youth Services Division
- Administrative Operations What You'll Do Lead with
Impact:
Drive strategic planning and implementation of comprehensive social service programs that create real change in our community.Shape Policy:
Serve on the DHS executive leadership team, represent the agency on the Interagency Council on Homelessness, and work directly with the DC Council to advance homeless services reform.Manage Complex Operations:
Oversee program development, resource allocation, contract management, grant administration, and performance measurement across multiple service areas. Build theFuture:
Develop strategic plans that set standards of care, establish performance measures, and create systems that deliver measurable outcomes for individuals and families.Ensure Compliance:
Oversee implementation of federal requirements including the Refugees Act of 1980, Community Services Block Grant Act, and DC's Homeless Services Reform Amendment Act of 2017. Why Join DHS?Our mission is clear:

Who You Are You bring one of the following: A degree in behavioral or social sciences or related field A combination of education and experience equivalent to a major in behavioral or social sciences At least four years of experience demonstrating expertise in behavioral or social sciencesPlus:
One year of specialized experience at a senior level in social services program leadership, policy development, and large-scale operations management.
