This role combines direct program facilitation, staff supervision, and relationship-building with students, families, and school partners. The Site Lead plays a critical role in shaping youth experiences by fostering positive development, academic support, and social-emotional growth—particularly for youth from underserved communities. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Program Operations & Implementation Lead daily after-school programming, ensuring activities are structured, engaging, and aligned with organizational goals Create culturally competent curriculum to encourage social emotional learning Oversee site logistics including attendance, schedules, transitions, and program flow Ensure compliance with safety standards, policies, and licensing requirements (if applicable) Youth Engagement & Development Build positive, supportive relationships with youth Facilitate or oversee academic support, enrichment activities, and social-emotional learning Address behavioral challenges using trauma-informed and restorative approaches Staff & Volunteer Supervision Supervise, coach, and support program staff and volunteers Provide ongoing feedback, training, and performance support Ensure appropriate staff-to-student ratios and coverage at all times Family & School Partnerships Serve as the primary point of contact for families and school partners Find and cultivate partnerships with other organizations in Washington, DC Communicate regularly regarding student progress, attendance, and program updates Support family engagement initiatives and events Data & Reporting Track attendance, participation, and program outcomes Maintain accurate records and submit reports in a timely manner Use data to inform program improvements Qualifications Proven experience working with children in educational, childcare, or social work settings Strong knowledge of special education practices and working with individuals with disabilities Background in behavioral health or child welfare services is highly desirable Demonstrated ability to mentor youth effectively while managing group dynamics Excellent communication skills for engaging children, families, and community stakeholders Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism Certification or training in conflict management, social work, or related fields is a plus Join us as a Lead Youth Development Specialist to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.
