Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a Day Shelter Manager to lead our Drop In Center operations with energy and dedication. In this vital role, you will oversee daily shelter activities, ensure the safety and well-being of guests, and coordinate services that promote recovery and stability. Your leadership will foster a supportive environment where individuals experiencing crisis receive respectful care, guidance, and resources to rebuild their lives. This position requires a proactive approach, excellent communication skills, and a passion for social service work. Hours may change seasonally. Some evenings and weekends may be necessary. Duties
  • Supervise shelter guests to ensure smooth daily operations and high-quality care delivery
  • Oversee intake procedures, including assessment of guests' needs and appropriate referrals to other social services, including assisting clients with obtaining IDs, applying for housing, entitlements and other basic social services.
  • Implement crisis intervention strategies to de-escalate conflicts and address urgent behavioral health or safety concerns
  • Coordinate case management efforts with other community partners to develop individualized care plans focusing on addiction counseling, behavioral health support, and social services
  • Maintain security protocols to safeguard guests, staff, and property through regular patrols, access control, and emergency response readiness
  • Manage data entry, filing, and collection of guest information while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations
  • Facilitate communication between day shelter guests and emergency responders as needed.
  • Qualifications
  • Proven supervising experience in shelter or social service environments with a focus on crisis intervention and behavioral health support
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to manage conflict effectively and foster teamwork among diverse groups
  • Experience with security measures, including safety protocols, access control, and emergency response planning
  • Background in addiction counseling or behavioral health services is highly desirable, a degree in Human Services is preferred.
  • Familiarity with case management processes, intake procedures, data collection, and filing systems. Knowledge of CMIS a plus.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism while maintaining a calm demeanor under pressure
  • First aid certification or willingness to obtain training upon hire is required Join us in making a meaningful difference!

Pay:
$20.00 - $30.00 per hour
