About the Role As the Social Services Director, you will plan, organize, and oversee all aspects of our social services program. Your work will help ensure our residents' emotional and psychosocial needs are met, while also supporting their families during transitions and care decisions. This role is both administrative and deeply personal—requiring you to lead with empathy while ensuring our practices meet federal, state, and local regulations. You'll also serve as a vital member of our interdisciplinary care team, participating in care planning meetings and helping to shape the resident experience in a meaningful way. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the social services department with a focus on compliance, compassion, and community impact Interview residents and their families to assess psychosocial needs and create individualized support plans Provide guidance on available financial and social resources, including Medicare/Medicaid Work closely with families, outside agencies, and staff to coordinate care and services Participate in care planning and discharge planning to support residents through every stage of care Supervise, train, and mentor department staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and growth Represent social services in QAPI and survey readiness initiatives Maintain and develop relationships with community agencies and service providers What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related human services field (Master's preferred) Minimum 2 years of social work experience in a healthcare setting; long-term care experience strongly preferred Supervisory experience (1-2 years preferred) Ability to lead with professionalism, empathy, and a collaborative spirit Knowledge of OBRA regulations, care planning, and MDS documentation Strong interpersonal and communication skills—especially with residents and families Must be able to work on-site with flexibility for evenings/weekends, as needed Why Join Washington Senior Living?
