Exempt Job Summary The Prevention Program Manager supports Alternatives For Girls mission by overseeing prevention-based youth development programming that serves at-risk youth and families in the Detroit community. This position manages after-school programs, summer camp initiatives, academic enrichment activities, mentoring services, youth leadership development, and prevention education programming designed to promote positive youth outcomes, educational achievement, life skills, and healthy decision-making. The Prevention Program Manager is responsible for supervising staff, coordinating program operations, maintaining community partnerships, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, and developing engaging programming that supports youth development, academic success, college and career readiness, and social-emotional wellness. Key Responsibilities Program Leadership & Oversight Managestaff andthe day-to-day operations of prevention programming, including afterschool programs, summer camp programming, school-based services, academic enrichment activities, and youth development initiatives. Develop and implement program schedules, curriculum activities, workshops, andspecial eventsaligned with departmental goals and grant requirements. Oversee program quality, participantand parentengagement, and overall effectiveness of prevention services. Assistin developing policies, procedures, and strategic goals forpreventionprogramming. Ensure compliance withlicensing rules,all grant deliverables, programobjectives, reporting requirements, and budget expectations. Afterschool & Summer Camp Programming Coordinate and oversee afterschool activities focused on academic support, STEAM enrichment, mentoring, recreation, life skills, and leadership development. Plan and supervise summer camp programming, including educational field trips, enrichment workshops, college tours, career exploration activities, cultural experiences, and recreational programming. Ensure all programming provides a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for youth participants. Collaborate with community organizations and partners to enhance program opportunities and resources. Youth Development & Direct Services Support recruitment, enrollment, retention, and engagement of youth participants and families. Facilitate workshops, group sessions, prevention education activities, and youth leadership opportunities. Assistyouth with goal setting, educational planning, college readiness, financial literacy, and social-emotional development. Support mentoring initiatives by recruiting, training, matching, and supporting mentors and mentees. Help participants and families access community resources and referrals as needed. Staff Supervision & Volunteer Coordination Directly supervise program staff, coordinators, case planners, interns, volunteers, and AmeriCorps/VISTA members. Conduct staff training, coaching, scheduling, and performance evaluations. Foster a collaborative and positive team environment that supports professional growth and accountability. Provide leadership and support in crisis management and conflict resolution situations. Community Engagement & Partnerships Represent AlternativesForGirls at community meetings, school partnerships, outreach events, and public engagements. Build andmaintainstrong relationships with schools, funders, community agencies, and program stakeholders. Participate in outreach and recruitment activities to increase community awareness and program participation. Assistwith agency promotion and advocacy efforts,highlighting youth and family success stories. Data, Reporting & Budget Management Monitor program budgets, expenditures, and resource allocation. Ensureaccuratedocumentation, case notes, attendance records, and data entry for all program activities. Compile program statistics, outcomes, narratives, and evaluation data for monthly, quarterly, annual, and grant reports. Assistwith grant writing, program evaluation, and continuous quality improvement efforts. Demonstrated Abilities Strong organizational, leadership, and project management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adaptina fast-paced environment. Excellent communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills. Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution abilities. Ability to motivate and supervise diverse teams of staff and volunteers. Financial acumen, including budget oversight and resource management. Ability to work collaboratively with culturally diverse youth, families, schools, and community partners. Acquired Knowledge & Qualifications Bachelor s degree in a related field preferred but notrequired. Relevant professional experience may be substituted for education. Supervisory or management experience preferred. Experience with afterschool programs, summer camps, youth development, and community-based programming preferred. Experience working with at-risk or vulnerable youth populations preferred. Knowledge of youth development and community resourcesrequired. Proficientin Microsoft Office, Outlook, and general computer/database systems. Valid driver s license and ability to travel locally required . Working Conditions Extensive localtravel forprogram activities,street and communityoutreach, field trips, and community engagement. Flexibleschedulemay include evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight trips for youth activities or summer programming. Ability to supervise youth activities in indoor and outdoor settings.
