Join our team as an Operations Supervisory ( Child Welfare Supervisor 2) and play a vital role in ensuring child safety and stability. Summary of Duties As an employee working within the Child Welfare Program, you will have an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Oregon's most vulnerable children and families. The supervisor is responsible for personnel management, including interviewing, selection of new staff, staff promotions, recommendations for salary increases, reassignment, completing performance appraisals, responding to grievances, rewarding excellent performance and taking disciplinary actions when required. As a CPS Supervisor , you will: Supervise staff hiring, training, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and resolve complaints. Collaborate with state agencies and community partners to coordinate services, maintain beneficial relationships, and participate in district planning and special projects. Oversee staff members who directly serve children and families, ensuring that our mission is carried out with excellence. Play a crucial role in providing training, guidance, and support to ensure that our programs meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and permanency for children. Be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with community partners, children, and families, while also making critical decisions about the services provided to our clients. Oversee service delivery strategies, ensure service continuity, assess client needs, and allocate personnel and resources accordingly Minimum Qualifications A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are required for this position. A bachelor's degree in human services or a field related to human services and two years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related human services experience; OR A bachelor's degree unrelated to human services and completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency and two years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience in human services; OR An associate degree and three years of human services related experience, two years of which must have included lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience; OR An associate degree and completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency AND two years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience in human services. Essential Attributes We are looking for candidates with: Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with community partners and individuals, with a commitment to anti-racism work and equitable practices. Ability to observe and analyze the changing needs of clients, service delivery and resource requirements while leveraging internal and external resources and working collaboratively with other Districts and other Branches. Identifying and implementing Child Welfare policy, procedures and processes specific to Child Protective Services practices through the Oregon Safety Model, including the Child Welfare Vision for Transformation. Experience applying a trauma-informed approach to decision-making, problem-solving, and providing recommendations related to child safety and placement. Experience managing high-pressure, fast-paced work environments while maintaining composure and providing reassurance to staff. Experience performing data and metric analysis while translating these data points to staff to inform practice improvements. An understanding of the basic principles and values of clinical supervision and trauma-informed coaching and mentoring. This includes reflective supervision, self-awareness, restorative accountability, and clear communication, both on an in person basis and in written communication. Working Conditions Employee will work a professional work week in person at the North Clackamas office. Monday- Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. Occasional, non-traditional hours may be required. Supervisors have an on call- rotation on average every 2 months and are expected to be available. Supervisors may be required to coordinate and participate in the Temporary Lodging of children in accordance with policy, procedures and local protocols. Occasional travel around the district is required. Occasional travel outside the district may be required for trainings or other enrichment activities. Travel within the state for meetings and conferences may be required. You may interact with a wide range of people including some who have experienced trauma and exhibit challenges in controlling their emotions. This role involves handling sensitive topics related to trauma, abuse, and crises, requiring a trauma-informed approach that is essential to ensure a safe environment. You may interact with individuals who have experienced trauma and may have difficulty managing their emotions. Be prepared for stressful situations that require quick decision-making to ensure safety for yourself and others.
