Job Description
The Social Services Coordinator plays a crucial role in overseeing and enhancing social service programs within our organization. This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of various social service initiatives aimed at supporting individuals and families experiencing homelessness, food insecurity, and a lack of resources. The ideal candidate will possess compassion, empathy, leadership skills, a background in social work, and a commitment to fostering positive behavior change with clients. I. Position Duties A. Monitor daily residential programs and provide client support as needed in the women's shelter and transitional housing apartments. B. Ensure compliance to program requirements according to Pilgrims' Inn guidelines. C. Oversee client behaviors and mental health status to promote positive performance and stability. D. Develop case plans and goals with clients to encourage growth and independence. Case plans and goals include orientation/intake, assessments/evaluations, data entry, discharge planning, and referrals to community resources. E. Facilitate, schedule, and organize client meetings and staff meetings, workshops, and activities. F. Maintain accurate and up to data documentation and record-keeping in HMIS, MACH, case notes, client records, and shelter waiting list. G. Function as the McKinney-Vento Liaison between Pilgrims' Inn and school systems. H. Supervise and train shelter specialists (house life coaches) staff. Hold monthly shelter specialist staff meetings. I. Attend trainings, workshops, supervisory meetings, staff meetings, and events as scheduled. J. Access and utilize community resources and referrals, as necessary. K. Coordinate service delivery with Pilgrims' Inn staff and community service providers. L. Ability to work flexible hours, after hours, and on-call hours. M. Participate in other duties as assigned. II. Position Requirements A. Master's degree in Social Work or Human Services, preferred. B. Minimum of 1-year case management experience. C. Minimum of 1-year supervisory experience, preferred. D. Knowledge of community resources. E. Ability to handle crisis situations and use supervision constructively. F. Work experience in one of the following areas, preferred; Homelessness, Domestic Violence, Low-income housing, Substance Abuse. G. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. H. Must pass criminal background check. I. First Aid and CPR certification, to be scheduled by Pilgrims' Inn. III. Knowledge Required A. Social service systems in human behavior, family systems, and intervention strategies. B. Knowledge and experience working in a person & family centered environment. C. Strong observation, assessment, intervention, and sensitivity skills. D. Understanding and knowledge of DSM-V definitions. E. Prevention and recovery strategies for poverty, homelessness, and substance abuse populations. F. Crisis intervention, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and client engagement. G. Pilgrims' Inn policies, procedures, and operations. IV. Skills Required A. Willingness to work with diverse populations. B. Strong communication and writing skills. C. Planning and facilitating group meetings. D. Computer skills - data collection & entry, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. E. Willingness to work flexible hours. F. Interpersonal abilities in working with various community groups. G. Maintaining positive partnerships. H. Experience working in a interdisciplinary team environment.
