Hunkapi Programs Purpose:

The Volunteer Coordinator will represent Hunkapi Programs in a positive manner to all stakeholders. Overseeing volunteer activities in a safe, positive, and productive manner is crucial.

Examples of Duties:

Liaison to community. Ensure applications submitted to the program are complete. Communicates with applicants regarding orientation opportunities. Holds orientations in accordance with company practices. Communicates with applicants on next steps to becoming a volunteer at Hunkapi. Creates a schedule for volunteers. Ensures adequate volunteer coverage for each shift Communicates safety standards and ensures safety practices are being always implemented. Maintains open lines of communication with all stakeholders. Creates opportunities for volunteers to increase their knowledge base. Works to ensure retention of volunteers by creating meaningful, enriching volunteer work.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Skill in working effectively and positively with all types of people. Skill in critical thinking and problem solving. Attention to detail. Skill in following both verbal and written instruction. Computer skills necessary. Confidential information handled appropriately in keeping with company standards and policies. Understanding of HIPPA policies and protocols. Successful candidate will understand the necessity of developing and maintaining positive relationships with volunteers and Hunkapi staff. Horsemanship at intermediate level, expert preferred

Minimum Qualifications:

One year experience working in a non-profit organization. Computer skills in Office products are necessary, as is the ability to learn new computer programs, as necessary.

Must be able to stand and walk for up to 6 hours at a time, work in inclement weather, and lift 25-50 lbs. This description is intended to be generic in nature.
