Position Overview:
Kings View is seeking a Peer Support Specialist I to support individuals experiencing mental health challenges within the Visalia Wellness Center. This role provides encouragement, advocacy, peer-based support, and recovery-oriented services while promoting wellness and community integration. The Peer Support Specialist I works collaboratively with clients, treatment teams, and community partners to support recovery goals and provide linkage to resources and services.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one and group peer support services Facilitate recovery, wellness, and coping skills groups Assist clients with individualized recovery planning Support transitions between levels of care Monitor client progress and communicate with treatment teams Coordinate linkage to Managed Care Plans and community resources Maintain timely and accurate documentation in SmartCare Advocate for client rights and recovery goals Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development Promote a culture of inclusivity, empathy, and respect
What You'll Bring:
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent Valid California Driver's License (Class C)
Required Experience:
Interest and engagement in wellness and recovery principles Experience as a consumer or family member of mental health services if program required
Required Skills:
Strong communication and active listening skills Ability to engage clients with empathy and professionalism Strong time management and organizational skills Ability to manage stress-related situations with composure Strong problem-solving and interpersonal abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
First Aid/CPR or crisis intervention certification preferred Familiarity with local mental health resources and community organizations Bilingual skills preferred

Compassionate and recovery-focused Patient and resilient Culturally sensitive and inclusive Collaborative and adaptable
