Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Peer Support Specialist to join our dynamic behavioral health team. In this vital role, you will serve as a peer mentor and advocate, providing support, guidance, and hope to individuals navigating mental health challenges, substance use recovery, and behavioral health issues. Your lived experience will empower others to achieve their goals, foster resilience, and build confidence in their journey toward wellness. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives while working within a collaborative and supportive environment. Responsibilities Offer empathetic peer support through active listening, encouragement, and motivational interviewing techniques to help clients manage mental health or addiction concerns. Assist individuals in developing coping strategies and navigating crisis situations using crisis intervention skills. Collaborate with clinical teams to coordinate care plans and provide feedback on client progress based on your lived experience. Support clients in accessing community resources, housing, employment, and other social services to promote stability and independence. Document interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations. Participate in ongoing training related to crisis management, behavioral health practices, and addiction counseling to enhance your skills. Serve as a positive role model by mentoring clients through their recovery journey and fostering hope for the future. Qualifications Lived experience with mental health challenges or substance use recovery that qualifies you as a peer supporter. Strong understanding of behavioral health issues, crisis management, and addiction counseling principles. Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and empower others through motivational interviewing techniques. Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and effectively using crisis intervention strategies. Experience working with social work principles or providing mental health counseling is preferred but not required. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation purposes is a plus. Pay:
$19.00 - $24.00 per hour
