Job Description:
Schedule:
Full Time Days 8am-4:30pm
Location:
Hinsdale Office Recruits, interviews, selects, and retains volunteers to support the patient census. Trains and monitors volunteers based on their strengths and weaknesses. Communicates with Patient Care Managers and staff to determine specific needs for volunteers and assigns them accordingly. Informs volunteers of policies, procedures, and standards of volunteer service. Maintains accurate records and provides timely statistical and activity reports on volunteer participation. Monitors volunteers' status and workload to ensure effective service delivery. Participates in staff meetings, department meetings, in-services, and other related activities. Attends educational and developmental seminars and meetings as deemed appropriate. Communicates with Hospice staff on a continual basis regarding volunteer needs and usage. Performs all other duties as deemed necessary by the Quality Director or designee. Coordinates services provided by volunteers to ensure alignment with organizational goals. Provides direction to volunteers to enhance the quality of patient care services. Performs other duties as assigned.

Great Lakes Region Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Office experience required. Volunteer Services or related field is preferred [Required]
  • Knowledge of hospice services provided by Hospice [Preferred]
  • Knowledge and support of the Biblical philosophy of compassionate caring. [Preferred]
  • Knowledge and application of Hospice policy and procedures. [Preferred]
  • Knowledge of regulatory agencies governing hospice activities. [Preferred]
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and to make professional presentations. [Preferred]
  • Ability to manage difficult or emotional customer situations. [Preferred]
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse groups of both genders. [Preferred]
  • Ability to be respectful and non-judgmental in all dealings with all individuals. [Preferred]
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret government regulations involving all aspects of hospice care, general business periodicals, professional journals or technical procedures [Preferred]
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of organization/employee/patient/family/caregiver information. [Preferred]
  • Ability to write effective correspondence including letters, reports and other documentation. [Preferred]
  • Ability to operate standard office machines such as fax, copier, calculator and mail machines. [Preferred]
  • Ability to provide superior customer service to all contacts. [Preferred]
  • Knowledge of basic to intermediate application of Microsoft Office Suite including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook as well as internet software [Required]
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the discretion of the Director [Preferred]

  • Associate [Preferred]
Field of Study:
  • in a related field is preferred.
