Job Description

RECOVERY SUPPORT SPECIALIST NAMI
Metro Suburban This position will work at the Living Room in La Grange. You must be a Certified Recovery Support Specialist for this role. These programs are open 24/7/365 and we are looking to fill the 4p-12a shift, Friday- Monday in La Grange. Additionally, there may be required trainings or meetings outside of work hours and some holidays are required. The Living Room is a safe place where someone can talk with a peer if they are experiencing a mental health crisis or overwhelmed by emotional stresses. It is a zero barrier to care peer support program, offering care to anyone over the age of 18. The trained Recovery Support Specialist uses aspects of their personal experience to help guests find and maintain recovery. The Living Room provides peer support, resources, and referrals to those seeking support. The RSS role develops engaging and collaborative working relationships with guests, creating self-designed recovery plans that identify strengths and gaps in basic needs and supports. The RSS Navigator will model and coach how to navigate different systems and connect guests with needed resources.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Guests:
Approach guest interactions from a non-judgmental standpoint, utilizing aspects of the following evidence based models: strength based and person centered approach, trauma informed care, motivational interviewing. Utilize recovery tools to assist guests in building a strong foundation in their recovery, while tracking progress and celebrating success. Some tool usage would be SMART Goals, Wellness Plan, Self Care Plan. Assist guests in navigating multiple systems (mental health, insurance, State benefits, etc.) through coaching and modeling, assisting in guests skill development Working with guests to address social determinants of health by screening for security in housing, food, employment or education, and healthcare linking and following guest to completion. Meet one on one with guests on an ongoing basis to create and check in on recovery and social of determinant plans which outline current strengths and areas of need Assist in the development of resource materials and preparation and maintenance of accurate records and information . Collaborate with guests to create Safety Plans as needed. Coordinate with other members of guests support team as needed. Provide guests with resources and referrals to relevant services. Acknowledges own lived experience and shares parts of recovery story as appropriate and relevant. Models effective coping techniques, boundaries, and self care strategies. Facilitate recovery support groups Complete Risk Assessment screenings on all new guests, guests with a change in symptoms, and/or guests who have not been seen in the last 3 months Keep track of guests who may need updated risk assessments. Ensure all intake documents are complete Complete SUDS form with all guests Provide guests with exit survey
Administrative Duties:
Utilizes Apricot database to enter guest profiles, recovery tools, and case notes within 24 hours. Completes follow up calls to first time guests within 24 hours. Writes Care Cards to guests monthly. Composes and sends end of shift note Compose Weekly Success Stories Completes applicable trainings, approved by supervisor, to enhance knowledge and skills. Remain HIPAA compliant Act as a Mandated Reporter Education and Experience Bilingual- English/Spanish preferred Certified Recovery Support Specialist credential required Training in the
Illinois Certified Recovery Support Professional Performance Domains:
Advocacy, Professional Responsibility, Mentoring, and Recovery Support A work history in mental health service delivery is required Experience working with adults preferred.

From $22.00 per hour
